Test drive...from a sports-car guy

The one dealer closest to me still have about 8 2015's left. So sad to see them just sitting there. I would love to get one, but the insurance is killer.

Really? Why? I pay similar to my CX-5 as I did my C6 Z06, as I did to my 370Z. I think they varied something like $30 a month between the extremes among the 3, for very similar coverages.

Sweet! Modified Evo in the stable here as well.

Traded my 06 Evo IX for the CX-5. I loved that car, but I had 10 years of fun with it. Just needed something with better gas, more practical, and with the updated bells and whisltes. Man did that thing hold it's value though. Got $18.5k for trade in and another $1.5k from aftermarket parts I resold. Could of gotten 21-22K private seller, but I didn't think it was worth the hassle for a extra $1-2k. Too many idoits out there wasting your time and beating on the car.

Not sure. I do have some major speeding tickets when I was younger, but those are approaching a decade now. Just how Statefarm prices it I guess.

The CX-5 is my wife's car. I have a G35 and a motorcycle. I also have access to my brother's Miata and motorcycle as well. For what it's worth, this is a pretty "good" handling vehicle. It handles and corners very good for a SUV in my opinion. Would be nice if it's a manual transmission though. Wishful thinking. (2thumbs)

They do offer a manual transmission. Except it's only on the 2.0L and the base model.

Yes, I actually test drove it back then just for fun. The 2.0 is just way under power. They need to make it for the 2.5.

Yeah I agree. I don't get why the don't just use the 2.5 across the board. Why even bother offering the 2.0 when its known to be underpowered. Is it really just so they can claim 35mpg with the 2.0?

I have the 2.0 with a 6 speed manual and could not be happier. I'm over 50 and dont really want to be driving that fast anyway. I do like the gas mileage. I took a trip from Houston to San Antonio a few weeks ago ( 3 hour drive ). I got 46mpg on the way there. I had the windows down on the way back and got 43mpg. With the quick steering, great shifting manual trans, and handling characteristics, mazda could not have done better for me.

Impressive! If I didn't feel the need for the 2.5's acceleration for safety's sake, I would happily go with the 2.0. I admire your ability to be safe in Houston rush-hour while remaining at the mercy of others in it!

I think they believed the 2.0 would do fine, but all the complaints garnered the 2.5. Just a guess with nothing to substantiate.

Judging by how few there are out there, I think this claim has some merit.
