Tell me what you think of my setup!

CDT wins in the "internet hype" category. They are a small company that makes relatively good equipment. However, if you put them on a sound board next to some of their equivalently priced competitors...the truth would come out. They simply are not worth the price.

My wife has the classic series 3-ways in her car. I liked them when I installed them a few years ago but there is really no way to get more bass out of them using the passive crossovers. They come out sounding thin on the bottom, harsh on the top, and bland in the middle (and that is with the lowest tweeter setting and ideal kickpanel mounting). Now they aren't the HD or ES series...but I have heard those also and they simply don't compare to my DLS Iridiums which are in the same price range.

I'll simply state as I know you have many times. It's all opinion based. I personally have enjoyed my cDT's and I know many others that had the oppurtunity to purchase other comps i.e DLS, rainbow, etc. But decided upon cDT. So while to you, your DLS sound better than the cDT ES line to another audiophile it may be the opposite. I only make this comment due to the (CDT wins in the "internet hype" category.) remark. As I'm sure you know in the audio world everyone has their own opinion and there isn't one that is 100% right.

i dont much about sound system but if its gonna u good quality which i think it will, id say for it if u can afford it

You already got that square woofer?

No i havent got the subwoofer yet, thats just the one i plan on getting, and the only reason im getting the KS component system for the rear is because i won the auction for it on ebay for cheap, im just going to put it in the rear and buy the rs for the front or sell it and buy different speakers for rear or no speakers at all..

mixing manufacurer is nothing bad in any which way. matter of fact it's almsot always the best way to go, some companies have thier weak and or strong points. WIth Kicker, I know their rep is from subs, but they're really nothing all that great at this point. you can definately do better. Also, I don't know your tastes and such, but you might want something larger than a single 8.

I don't know if you already bought that300.1 amp but if you're stuck on Kicker, I would check out there CVX10 10" round subwoofer. This is what I have in my car and it can usually be found pretty cheap on eBay (where I got mine from). It's dual voice coil and 300w RMS per coil so you'd need another 300.1 amp or even a different one. It's small but it absolutly kicks ass. lol Over 140db from a single 10" sub is nice but I don't know if you're really going for bass. lol Just an idea for a nicer Kicker sub than the 8" L5.

Wait a second, WHY THE HELL would you want 2 amps for a DVC sub? yes it's possible, but it hugely complicates teh setup, not to mention that amp should provide plenty of power for wither sub. The only thing is to make sure you get the proper voice coil configuration to get tme most from your amp.

It was just a suggestion if he had already bought the amp. And for the sub I was mentioning, even two of those amps would only be providing half the power needed to power it.

I always forget about those vx's (round solobarics) they are power thirsty. the 300.1 would NOT be a good amp for it, nor would a pair. (pairing amps to a single sub is asking for trouble unless they are amps specifically setup to do so)

A better option would be to go with a VR10 (which in my opinion are kicker's best sounding subs) Make sure to get it in a dual 4ohm voice coil configuration so you can windup with 300w@ 2ohms coming from that 300.1 amp, and you have a well-matched setup...

Yea im not going for huge bass, thats why i sold my apline type x, that sub was insane...i just want pure good quality music, thats y im only adding a single sub, just for a lil bass and to keep alot of space in the hatch. i havent baught the sub or amp yet so i got time to figure out the combo to go with, it will be kicker though, i baught the 350.4 channel amp to power my highs and mids, then when i get the money or amp and sub, ill buy whatever is needed...

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I have a 10" Kicker Solobaric L5, and I'm very happy with it (its powered by a Kicker KX400.1). From what I understand it's a compromise between SPL and SQ, so it's perfect for someone like me who wants to really feel the bass at times, but also have good sound quality when you want to listen at lower levels (and high I guess too). I noticed that my sound quality improved enormously since I installed my new alpine cda-9856 head unit and used the subwoofer rca output (this was much better than using a line out converter with my stock head unit).

Got my component system today, very nice, i mounted the tweeters in the door pilars, got a good size gap on the side by the window (any ideas how to cover) other then that you dont see that side anyways so it probably dont matter, im just picky and want it to look perfect. Now i got to wait for my amp to come, then wire it all up and see how it sounds...
