Tell me what you think of my setup!

hey guys i got another ??? for you all to anwser, Is it better to run one huge 4-channel amp to power everything or run 2 seperate, one to run highs and mids and one to run subwoofer???

Here are my options...

http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC06ZX6504

OR

http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC06ZX3504 AND http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC06ZX3001

These will be running this complete system...

Front Speaker= http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC04SSMB6?vq_id=none

Tweeters= http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC05KS25

Rear Speakers= http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC055KS60?vq_id=none

I was thinking it might just be easier to use one 4-channel to do it all, but please tell me what you think...THANKS for all your help...(glare)

thanks everybody for your help, i got my mind set now on my complete system, i cant wait to get all installed, and since im using money from selling some stuff on ebay i wont be loosing any money, now i just gotta get my had on track and start saving for my Hiboost turbo, i keep spending money on other lil things instead of putting the money in the bank, i think i might just save up like 1500 and then take out a loan or something. i wanna get all my other mods done, that way when the turbo is complete everything else will be done and i can focus on turbo stuff....

I'm kind of concerned abou the mix'n match speaker setup still. Those SSMB6's are deisnged to be a midbass, not mirdange Note how freq responce is only rated up to 300hz (This is FAR below the 3000hz or so you'd be looking for) Not that numbers matter, and they WILL indeed play up that high (I was running my SSMB8's up to there for awhile)
BUt tehy won't sound right...

Seriously I think you're jumping into this too quickly. Also, the The KS component set you got is actually a bit different than a sum of the two items you listed. It will be a midrange driver and tweeter with one crossover designed to go between them... The easiest way to get good sounding speakers is to buy a component set that was meant to be run together with it's own specific crossover, etc. Such as the KS speakers you have... If you desire something different, look at FULL SETS.

I know we've discouraged the rear-tweeter bit and that's a good sounding way to go, but the mix'n matching willnot be the right solution here.

good point about the concert, i think i will just listen to all your guys help and start with the front and work my way to the back, then maybe a single 10inch subwoofer later down the road. something to add a lil bass...ill have to get a new head unit if i do that cause mine only has 1 output so, i might just get a dvd player if i do switch...

even tho you have only 1 output it still would be fine to use 2 amps 1 4 channel for mids & highs and a usually a mono block amp for the sub. the actuall name brand amps has a output also so you can run rca's from the deck to the 4 channel amp and another set of rca on the output of the 4 channel amp to go to your sub amp.

wow.... oh no im getting yelled at on the internet. then just buy the plates.i have never seen a plate that was too thin...

Did I not catch the part where I accidentally kicked you in the balls or something? Honestly notsure why you feel like halfassed attacking me, but *shrug* I'm not even quite sure where you're coming up with this stuff. I have no issues making plates, it's quite within my realms of happy project. I was asking so I could possibly have somwhere to point ppl. And eitherway, they don't make plates to adapt 8's to 5x7, so I think I'm out of luck there.

i guess its just how i read it.... and a 8in doesnt fit in 5inches by 7 inches..... thats a given. i think everyone and there mom knows that

Yea I am rushing into everything, i did win the auction for the KS65.2 component system, i will see what its like when it gets here, otherwise if i dnt like it i will sell it and buy the best, i do want to go big or go home so id rather spend more and get better...I do think i wanna stick with kicker, but if not im going to go will all alpine...

These are my Finals choices...???

Ok everybody I have decided between 2 different System set-ups, one is all alpine and one is all kicker. My Goal is just over all great sounding music, I listen to pretty much anything and everything depending on the mood. Anyways here are my choices, I just wanna know which complete system you would choose, opinions, suggestions, anything....Thanks for everybodies help again....

My Choices are...

ALPINE=

SPR-17LS
6-1/2" Component 2-Way Speaker Set...For the Front

>SPR-17LP
6-1/2" Coaxial 2-Way Speaker...For the Rear

>MRP-F250
4/3/2 Channel Power Amplifier...To power the above set-up

> SWS-1022D
10" Subwoofer (2Ω + 2Ω)...Single 10" Subwoofer

> MRP-M450
Mono Power Amplifier...To Power Subwoofer

>SBS-05DC
1DIN Center Channel Speaker...Just To add a little extra

OR

Kicker=

Kicker RS Series RS65.2...For The Front

Kicker KS Series KS6.2...For The Rear

Kicker ZX350.4...To Power The Above set-up

Kicker Solo-Baric S8L54...Single 8" Subwoofer

Kicker ZX300.1...To Power Subwoofer

>>> Those Are my choices, price wise the alpine will cost a little bit more, but if its worth it then the extra spent wont be missed.

THANKS AGAIN, i know some get tired of the same old ??'s being asked...haha (glare)

Alpine might be nice, bag the center channel though. I am sure the kicker set up would be cool to.

Have you listen to the speakers yet?

The MRP-M450 is not 1ohm stable. You need a single 4ohm DVC subwoofer to get the most power out of it.

Only get the center channel if you have a head unit that supports 5.1 surround sound. They don't sound very good and their only real purpose is to anchor dialog to your dash mounted screen.

No i havent listened to any of these speakers yet, that might be a good idea, i might have to go out today and do some listening, i just hate how as soon as i step into a dealer, they want you to buy everything. i guess thats part of life...lol

i do plan on getting a screen someday, right now my focus is front components and rear speakers and the amp to power them, next would be subwoofer and amp combo, then dvd and surround sound...

hey guys thanks for all your help, i made up my mind on my set-up, i went ahead and ordered all kicker products, i was leaning towards alpine, but then changed my mind because i had the alpine type-s sytem in my old car and remember not liking them too much, and i think the speaker were blown in less then a couple months after purchasing. I ordered the Kicker KS65.2 component system (i might sell and upgrade to the RS65.2 component system) and I ordered the Kicker ZX350.4 channel amp to power the component system, i already have boston front speakers in my car now that i might just put in the rear, think they are blown too though. haha, but probably better then the blown stock rear. if anything ill wait for the funds to come and just put the ks system in the rear and buy the rs system for the front. THANKS again for all your help

One more ?? for anybody to anwser, if hooking up a amp to these the same as if i was hooking up a subwoofer?

im sure ill be asking more questions about tuning this all so be preparred...thans

You already got that square woofer?

Still dont think the rears are any semblance of a good plan, but if you're into 'em go for it...

The big concern I now have isthat you've mentioned alot of blown speakers. BLowing speakers isnot a function of poor speaker design or toomuch power or whatever else, it's a matter of cranking the volume up past the point where evil distortion destroys things. Just make sure you adjust things well on setup and be wary that when things start sounding weird from being too loud you are physically damaging at least speakers if nothing more.

Nope, you've gotta trim a bit here, and there and VERY carefully position things. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php/?t=122183
