Did you say you ordered an adapter to make 6.5 fi in a 5x7 hole? would you mind linking that up? Are you sure it's going to work right? thing is I've not seen a 5x7-6 adapter commercially marketed.
As far as speaklers, I'm kindof a fan of kickers recent components. I realyl think they're kinda an off-the-map item. Kicker's not really known for sound quality, and they're too big to be taken seriously, but their components really agree with my ears. ESPECIALLY those RS's of which you speak. They've got the same wonderful tweeter I'm happy to hear from everyday.
However, I'm gonna broken record the fact that there's no need for rear speakers. If you want for now I'd put your new ones upfront with an amp, leave stock off of deck power int he back and see how it goes. Especially in a P5, rear speakers with power and clarity will only serve to detract from your sound quality.
Should you still decide you need rear speakers, as chuyler said, mount the tweeters coaxially (those kickers will have provisions to doso) putting the rear tweeters up high will be deafening to the front seaters. nothing like having a tweeter 2" from your ear.
II-savy> are you making the assumption that none of us have made our own passive crossovers? I do it primarily for home, it's hardly worth messing with in cars, but I've dealt with a few in the 12v world as well. I can assure you that Chuyler as well is definately familiar with basic crossover topography.
I do appreciate your attempts to help, and do not entirely disagree with you, but your elitist attitude leaves something to be desired. I am certainly not the end-all authority of 12v audio, nor do I claim to be, but many of your statements are relatively baseless, atleast by modern standards and practices. If you're feeling attacked and have your quills up, so do I, but there's truely little good to come of it all.
