Tein S-Tech Springs - Stock Strut Life?

This has probly been answered already, but I'm looking for a specific answer. With the Tein S-Tech Springs, what kind of stock strut life can I expect? The roads around here are usually smooth with the occasional bumps/speed bumps. My car is a 2002 P5 with close to 21k miles on it. I want to get the most miles out of the stock struts and I dont want to use any other springs but Tein's, I want to keep the Tein drop/feel/ride. Also, when I do decide to get new struts, what is a good brand that isnt too harsh on the pocket? Thanks in advance.

john, i doubt you will get a specific answer because each person is going to experience different wear due to varying circumstances. tokico is the only company that makes struts for our cars. rishie from ard is hosting a gb for them as they have not come out yet. tokico gb

They should last a while as long as you aren't bottoming them out or riding on your bumpstops.

hrmm what are some tips i could go by to reduce the strut from being damaged. ( thanks for the info nate )

nothing really you can do but avoid big pot holes and doing jumps :) just watch out for leaks on the struts that is usally a good sign they are damaged

coo coo. to be safe, ill more then likely buy the tokico struts and springs at the same time. ill just work on other things until then.

I've had the Teins on my car for almost 2 weeks now. I think the stock shocks will be ok for a while. It's noticable that they are a bit weak for the stiffer/lower springs as the car isn't as "tight" as I'd like it, but it's certainly not bothersome. I plan to replace the shocks in the next year or so just for performance reasons within the next year or so.

I think the stock shocks are workable, but not really a long term solution with ANY lowering springs. They just aren't made for the stiffer and lower springs.

well, ive heard they last about 15-20k miles, then you should really start looking for new struts. i might put the springs on before getting the struts, but i could save a little money and do the strut/spring install in one shot.

Or you could do it yourself and just enjoy the bonding time with your car :) It's really not that hard to do, and once you have the lowering springs on, you won't need a spring compressor anymore to change the struts since there is almost no tension on them when the strut is off the car.
