Good news guys. Tein will be releasing their SS Coilover kit for the BJ chassis Proteges. That means that they will fit all our MP3's, ES's, Protege 5's. Unfortunately, just like JIC and H&R, there is no word as to when they will be released. They should be priced around $980-$1200 and they will include upper mounts and 16 way adjustable dampers. Remember this is a full coilover kit, not a spring and perch setup.

For you lucky P5 owners who do not want to wait to lower your car. They already have S-Tech springs available for the Protege 5. They retail for $190, but I do not have a exact lowering height for them. I will be calling Tein USA tomorrow to see if I can get an exact ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) for the SS Coilover Kit and to find out the lowering height of the S-Tech Springs. Just wanted to share this good news with you guys. ;)

I heard they were suppose to make newer models for street driven cars cause their old ones rust bad. friend of mine had them on his civic and they rusted so bad he damn near couldnt move the collar. but his ride was great and it would handle damn well with them.

About the rust think, I think it's totally based on the climate of where you live. Hear in Cali, rusting suspension pieces are not a problem, but when I lived in Michigan, even cleaning my APEXi WS Dampers didn't do me any good. They still rust a bit. So who knows for sure. If you live where it snows, I would definately think about the weather when it comes to coilovers.

I just got off the phone with some JDM sounding fellow who I contacted the number listed on the Tein USA website and according to him they should be in the price range I listed before $980-$1200. They should lower our Proteges 1-3 inches and the ETA he gave me was a little over a month and half, but I wouldn't hold my breath as that time frame could easily turn into 3 months. If we all start getting on the horn and let them know that there is genuine interest, I'm sure that time frame will stay the same.

Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.
We will be releasing a SS Damper for your MP3 in the coming months. It will
be ride height adjustable with 16 levels of damping adjustment. No retail
pricing or release date are available at this time. Please check back with
us in the coming weeks for more information.

Just got that from Tein

If they have springs for the Protege 5, they will fit the sedan as well. The spring mounts and everything like that are the same for both the wagon and the sedan.

Wow, this post has been brought back from the dead. I spoke to someone at Tein about 3 weeks ago and the new still remained the same. I was relieved to hear that they will be making coilovers for the Protege Sedans. I told the guy I spoke to that you could use the same kit the P5 uses and he replied that the weight difference would mean that the spring rates wouldn't be optimal and they want to make a quality kit. I like tha fact that he agreed that they would be looking at rates for the Sedan. The new bit of info I did recieve was that the kit might not come with the upper mounts and that you'd have to pay extra for them. No big deal to me, but some members might want them. The release date that I've been consistantly given the last few times I've called was late in this year, like December late. It doesn't bother me since I won't have any cash free till tax time anyhow.

Just wanted to post some teasers!!!
