well i have a full time job and a part time job that i work one day a week to get a discount on the clothing and the extra 60 bucks every other week is my gas money. but i just filed my taxes tonight and when i filed for my full time i was gonna get like 600 bucks and then when i filed the w-2's for the part time job my returned dropped to a little over 400 bucks. and now i owe the state of NC like a $100. i think i'm gonna quit my part time job even though i do get a good deal on clothes but if i'm gonna lose money like that it is not worth it.

sorry rant over

did you really lose money? you just didn't pay enough from your part time job to taxes so it came out of your other return. you still made money by working

Well if you make over 300 a year there than its worth it.
yea i got well over $300 hundred in discounts. but i guess now that it comes down to it and that the fact that i'm ready to order rods/pistons i would like to have that extra $300.

If you can't budget money for buying things through the year and use your taxes as a savings account then you just need to lower your deductions so they take more out of your paycheck. You would be better off just putting some money to the side in a savings account instead though, so at least you can make some interest off of it rather than giving the goverment a free loan. I was pissed this year that because of the short term capital gains we made on a condo sale the state took their taxes at the time of the sale, so I ended up with a $1200 federal return and $8200 state return because we made enough money disappear from the taxible income side that the took way too much.
If you know you want to buy car toys just set up a fund for them, it makes things better in the long run.
