Tall drivers comfy in their CX-5s?

Hi, everybody. I'm not a CX-5 owner but they've really caught my eye, and I have a question. How to the taller drivers among you like them? I ask because I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam, lousy knees, and I have trouble finding cars that can give me a comfortable driving position. Rarely the seat can't get far enough away from the pedals, but more often the wheel doesn't telescope out of the dash far enough and I have to reach. And I sit far more upright than most people...almost vertical. The wheel thing invariably gives me some kind of impingement issue with my shoulders. (I once had a car with both problems, and it literally hurt to drive after a while.) I've been driving Volvos because they work great for me (currently have an S60) but they're expensive to buy and not exactly cheap to maintain so I'm looking around. Plus I just really, really like the idea of a practical, attractive, reliable, AWD, long-roof vehicle that still drives well. Obviously I need to take a very long test drive and I plan to do so eventually. Just the same I'm interested to hear from people like me who actually own them. So what do you think, am I barking up the right tree?

One thing I would really like is for the bottom cushion on the seat to tilt upwards. This takes you're feet away from the pedals and let's you come closer to the wheel. My old protg 5 had that, but my Touring Cx5 does not. maybe higher end models have it.

I am 6' 5" 35 in inseam. I chose the car because it handles well, and I fit sitting up straight. I am very pleased.

Do you have the motorized leather seats? I have a GT and it lets me tilt the front and back of the butt cushion up and down. I'm 5'11", so I can't speak on the height issue and if it helps me much since I have no issues at my height.

No, I have the cloth seats. Good to know the GT leather seats have the tilt adjustment. One more reason for me to be jealous I guess!

Doesn't your GS have a full power driver's seat? The GT also has power lumbar.

I'm 6' 1", 33/34" inseam. With the 8-way power seat in the GT, it fits me very well. Steering wheel position with the tilt and telescoping is very good for me too. Some car seats give me a pain in my left hip after too much seat time (sometimes as little as 2 hours). I did a 600 mile day trip to north central AR and not a twinge of pain the entire time. Did the return trip 2 days later and once again absolutely no hip pain. My sister made the trip with me and after her experience the CX-5 is on her short list to replace her 2009 Civic.

I'm 6'6" with a 37" inseam. No issues at all even on long trips. Plenty of room behind me for an adult passenger too. One thing that I love coming from sedans / coupes is the amount of headroom that I have in the CX-5. It's freaking awesome!

It's powered (except for the lumbar) , but it has fewer possible adjustments than on the GT. It's not optimal for me, but still comfortable enough. And as others said the head room is great!

I'm only 5'10.5" in sockfeet, but I feel like there is plenty of room. 32" inseam. I do not think another 2-4" in height would change my opinion, although this post reminded me of training with this guy from Quantico who was 6'6" or something and watching him fold himself up and get into a little compact car and try to rapidly deploy his carbine/etc. in that space. It was comical!

I'm 6'1". The left knee begins to hurt after about 2 hours of driving. I stretch the leg by the brake pedal, then it's OK. I wish the seat could go further back. But the most uncomfortable thing for me is no elbow support at all. If I go 5-6 hours, my shoulders are killing me, and I take shiatsu massager on such trips.
In my other car I don't have such problems, but the Tahoe is much bigger.
The center console area could be improved, so there's something to put the elbow on and take the weight off the shoulder.

I'm 6'5" with a 35 inch inseam. I fit fine and like another comment, the only thing not to my liking is the steering wheel that would be better if it extended another inch or two. Plenty of headroom and I don't have to duck down to see stop lights out of the windshield.

Ooooh I forgot that advantage. It's nice to not have to be hunched over like Quasimodo waiting for green.

I'm ok with the steering wheel, but it would be good if the liftgate went up another few inches. I whacked my head on it more than once during the familiarization stages.

I am 6'-4" and have no problems in the CX-5. I have the GT with power adjusted seat though. I have about 3" from my head to the ceiling when sitting completely upright. I had to trade my 2 year old Mazda 3 in 2014 because my back problems were flaring up because I was slouching to fit in the car. If I sat up properly in the 3 my head would tilt into the sunroof and touch the glass...

Thanks for all the feedback! I'd likely want a GT anyway so it sounds like I might have a shot in one of these. The only two things I'm really missing in my current car are head room and rear-seat leg room behind me. I knew that going in but I figure if I have a choice, may as well aim for something a little more flexible next time.

You might consider a full-size SUV?

Actually the only issue I have with the seat is that at very sharp turns I have to brace my left right elbow on the side of the seat to keep from sliding.

I am 6ft@ 280lbs. I fit comfortably in my CX-5. The only complaint I do have is that the seat sits up high off of the floor, so for me, its like sitting in a chair when I am driving. I kind of wish the seats were a big lower, but it is what it is.
