You could have gone to any body shop you wanted to which is true for any insurance company. I just had my WRX totaled with USAA about 4 weeks ago. 17,000 in damage. Your agent was screwing with you if she told you that you only had 3 choices, or in my experience with USAA more likely that she didn't know any better.

Glad to hear its back in 1 piece.

Well I guess it's a Florida thing that the body shop has to work with USAA like they have to have an agreement or something, I'm not really sure but the body shop did a really good job on the doors.

Damn, that car just likes taking it hard. ;)

Thats what everyone is telling me, and that it's getting it from all sides... the rear has had a minor run in with someones car while it was parked... now all thats left is the drivers side... YIKES!

damn that sucks.....but hey from the pics people have put up with their mazdas in wrecks, they are one hell of a car which is a good thing anymore

Yeah I am so glad I bought a Mazda and not a Scion I don't know how the car would have held up in the first accident... I'm really thinking about getting the C30 the only thing stopping me is everyone is talking about it because the Twilight movie... I guess a guy drives one in the movie.

mhh that isnt gud.

Nope but it's better that I'm not there to see it, and hunt down the RX-8 guy!

I have to think about it being Thanksgiving and my house didn't burn down or something!

Yea I wouldn't touch a C30 after its been in that ****hole of a movie. I mean they are nice and all but c'mon, its been in Twilight...nobody will give you any respect for it now, at least not anybody I know. Get an S40 again or just sell the Mazda. You've got an S40 that's road ready and nice now so why keep two cars around and watch the money you could get depreciate on your driveway???

I like both of my cars lol and now that my Mazda has been in two accidents... I should get rid of it, but I still love it! As for Twilight and my poor C30... it sucks all the teen girls want a "shinny silver Volvo" lol.

I love mine too but I just can't stand the friggin' low temp. rattles.
Then you just shouldn't get a silver Volvo...I'll tell my dad to get rid of his really quick.

I'd insist on new parts. Period.

Thanks. So I went talk to the body shop today and he thinks it's only going to be $5k I have no idea how it can be that low but whatever. I had to sign some paper saying they could use a used door. In order for the car to be totaled it has to cost %80 of what the market value is which is $16k (Thats what they told me) so thats about $13k in damage now I know the front wheel is messed up and I know the body is bent (Some what) but I don't know whats going on under the car I was hit by a truck so it hit higher and they don't think anything under the car is messed up.

And they said they could have it done in two weeks. (And I'll believe that when I see it.)

I Added some pic's of how my Mazda "fought" back. : ]

I'd only get new genuine Mazda parts, god knows where they're getting those used parts from.

Glad to see you're well and posting.

Can everybody see how that Volvo side of Ford helps now? (because without Mazda, Fords would be really crappy to drive. and without Volvo, Fords would be terribly unsafe cars...same with Mazdas)

Perhaps. Who really knows though? Besides now Mazda is barely owned by Ford (somewhere around 10% as of this month) and I predict not at all in the future if things don't turn around for Ford.

Volvo is the one who makes most of the plateforms for all Mazda's, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury...

As for the Mazda parts they were Mazda parts that got put into my car they just came off of another 3 and not new from the factory. My car is less then 3 years old there for I have to only have Mazda parts after an accident.

Yes but Volvo's have been safe forever and when they all started sharing the plateforms they built them to Volvo's standerds.
Exactamundo!! That's why the C30, S40, and V50 all share the same platform with the Mazda3!!!

So I went to check on my car today; and when I get there I see a Mazda3 bumper well I got all kinds of excited and I walk over to it and it has a front plate bracket! I was so pissed, I asked if it came shipped like that and the guy told me no that they put it on because my other bumper had it. I had bought the car in Ohio were you need a front plate (and my dad is a Seg. in the Highway Partol up there) but now I live in Florida where you don't need one. So my new bumper is going to have a front plate too and I'm kind of over it!

Just take it off?

Mine has 2 holes in the bumper...dunno what the hell I'm gonna fill them with but they don't bother me too much and focusing on other parts of the car to mod helps with being too distracted to care.

I dumped the pictures off my blackberry and I found some from my first accident in the 3 when I was ran off the road and hit the curb...

Oh and that bar with the ball at the end should be 90 degrees and not touching anything...

The morning of this accident I was driving from my sisters to my parents house and there was a water main break and the clay here in Florida attacked my car. I washed it off before heading to work were pulling into Destin Commons I was ran off the road by a Nissan Maxima.

Skylar,

How great of a job did they do when they matched up the paint? I noticed we have the same color 3 - I think Galaxy Gray. On mine, the new door shells, old front fender, and old rear quarter panel, which they painted/blended are a little bluer than the original paint and do not quite match the hood, side skirts, handles, etc. I am going to have them make it match, whatever that may require.

I am worried that they won't be able to get the color right. They are using a waterborn paint system, which I believe they might not be too experienced with. However, I do have to give them the chance to make it right before exploring other options.

Thanks
