i love the gt28rs, im rocking it now on a stock block with about 12psi, but i also have a decent tune which is like everyone saying will def. help with the safety factor of the motor , if your like me and its difficult for you to build a motor cause 1) the money 2) my msp is my DD and 3) no garage to work in. then i would make sure you pick the splitsecond AFC and if you can put the lil more cash def. get the unit that allows you to control timing.

or get the AEM F/IC (which is 10x better than the crappy afc imo...you can retard timing on it)

im puttin in my vf22 into my car next wenesday on the stock motor. the wastegate is set to 8 psi, but the car will probably see 6 to 8.
 
yeah the FIC has alot more features and it can retard timeing. but i still have not found instructions on how to install this thing.

and yes, I absolutely hate the SS AFC simply because you cannot control timing at all...which is one of the most important parts of tuning
 
Keep in mind that you can only retart timing with the SSFTC and the AEM F/IC, but that's what you're looking for anyway.

Personally, I don't think there's a need to retard timing with a thicker headgasket.

and the split second AFC doesn't do timing, at least albert's doesnt...you have to buy the split second FTC to do that

well splitsecond came out with a version 3 that lets you control timing

thats what i was talking in my other post saying that if you can spend a few extra get the SSAFC that controls timing, if it was out when i bought mine i would have waited a lil bit longer to get it.

well, AFC = air and fuel controller....FTC = fuel and timing controller

just like the AEM F/Ic = fuel and ignition controller

well the ftc is a proven product to work on many cars. alot of people with supras use them.

for the price you really cant beat it. it has an internal map sensor and a ego controller built in. controling timing in the map B section is very easy. all the cells are at 0, then where ever you wanna take timing out, you change the cell acordingly.

the ss ftc is proven to work well for many cars.

even the ss afc with a j&s safeguard works great too. ask shane. he told me it saved his stock motor from detonation at 250 whp!
 
the gt28rs can have both a t3 5 bolt or t25 turbine housing. be careful to get the right one for your mani/downpipe.
