A buddy of mine has a 99 gsx and is selling his t28. i most likely going to make the purchase. The only thing im going to do different is use my exhaust housing instead of his. Unless I take out the ac the ac condesor gets in the way of using there o2 housing. If I keep my exhaust housing im going to port the s-pipe. Now ive rode in his car with the t28 and man it throws down some power. Just wondering what you guys might think and seeing if anyone else has done this?

yeh its basiclaly a big-28.....t25 housings.....t28 internals.....def get better peformance if its tuned for it

Have you heard on the power gains from the turbo. He actually put the turbo on his car pretty much bone stock and ran some good times. Then with a decent amount of mods and a master tunning job off the dsm link he threw down a 12.40 at the 1/4

that sounds badass, guy! just noticed you're from des moines. i'm an iowan myself, and i'll be in des moines this weekend as a matter of fact. i'd like to see this msp when it's running with the t-28 for sure!

That sounds sweet! I don't think I will have the turbo for a few weeks looking around like 3. I am just kind of waiting on him to get his new turbo and me to round up some dough. Just pm me if you are definitely coming down this weekend and I will let you know what is going on. We usually go out on the weekends.

what other mods do you have?

and you have to use your exhaust housing, unless he switched to a garrett flanged manifold. he has a mitsu flange, it won't bolt up to your exhaust mani

What boost level you planning on running that thing at?

I am definately using my exhaust housing with the ported s-pipe off the turbo. Im really not sure about psi right now i am gonna have to wait and see what else is going to happen with mods and what not. I am in the process of getting the rest of my couplings for my hardpipes. I am not using a front mount quite yet. I am also going to be using a 2g dsm bov (hint-gets rid of turkey quite nicely). I am getting some 440cc sti injectors from a friend in a day or so. Cross your fingers.

As you can tell were pretty big on dsms' around here. lol

I hope you have something planned for fuel management. You can't just throw big injectors in the car with nothing to control them.

As long as the T28 you are picking up uses the t25 flange that the Mazdaspeed stock turbo uses you should be fine. You may have to modify things a little (location of the wastegate actuator, and inlet piping (at least with the GT28RS, the inlet piping is much bigger then the stock turbo)

I will sell you my first gen DSM bov...much better than the 2nd gen, all metal.

Actually, the t28 CHRA from the DSM will not bolt up to the MSP turbine housing. The MSP uses the new ball bearing CHRA which is larger than the sleave bearing CHRA of the DSM turbo. Unless the T28 is a ball bearing unit !

I've tried it before and it doesn't work. What you could do is get a turbine housing from a nissan s13,s14 and bolt the t28 to it. The nissan uses the same inlet/outlet patern as the MSP !

Sweet! Do you happen to know of any places you can find a nissan turbine housing. If so that would be greatly appreciated. I have the 2g bov on the car now and booyaa no more turkey and the car runs terrific. The flash also helped my car tremendously. Right now the biggest thing we are trying to figure out is fuel management. I am in the process of reading off a couple sites the ins and outs of it (so please bare with me). Since the afcs' dont work were trying to figure out another way. A friend of mine has a boosted protege and is using a haltech. More info the merrier. Thanks guys

So, correct me if im wrong! The exhaust housing for the msp will direct bolt to the nissan turbo housing on the t28. And the nissan housing will also bolt directly to the manifold?

The nissan turbine housing will bolt up to the MSP manifold and s-pipe. If you want to use the dsm t28 then you'll need the nissan turbine housing; the msp turbine housing will not work !

IBBLOWNmotor.

No offense, but you dont sound like you really know a whole lot about tuning. Bad idea to throw a big turbo on the car. Motor will pop pretty quick if you dont tune it.
Also, it was mentioned before, what are you gonna control the 440s with?

No, honestly I don't know a lot about tunning but it takes time like everything else. I have two firneds that know there s*** about tunning/timing so that will help. And like I said earlier I am not 100% positive on what im going to use or if im even going to use those 440s. Im not that dumb either so you dont have to worry about me buying the turbo and sticking it right on b/c that is not going to happen. Like i said again im going to see if the setup will even work before i buy and leave it
