Synthetic oil

AAAAHHHH!!!!!

Mazda MP3, Laser Blue Mica
I've just been curious if all of you who do use synthetic oil which brand do you go with? I've usually gone with castrol.

Not an MP3 owner; however, we do have the same engine. I have used Mobil1 for a long time, no complaints.

PS: there are a lot of loooong threads about this ;)

i use mobil 1 on the protege, castrol syntec on my 2000 tdi jetta...

i ve been using mobil 1 in my older 1995 protege for 8 years until i bought the 2003 brand new,and never got any problems with the engine for 190 miles wich it had when i sold it,and its still running like new...(i know the new owner,a friend of mine).

so im still running mobil 1 super syn 5w30....(first)

I used Mobil 1 full synthetic 10w30 on my last oil change. I have read from numerus places that Mobil 1 oil will dirty up pretty quick.....i have not seen mine yet but i will very soon when i change my oil. Before the last oil change, i was using castrol syntec blend 5w30. This next change im putting in castrol full synthetic 10w30 cuz thats what i've already bought. Think i wanna try redline or amsoil full synthetic next time. I have also read that castrol oils have more ph buffers than mobil 1 oils

I just got finished changing my oil in my MP3 literally 5 minutes ago. I've used Mobil1 5w30 since I got it, along with the Mobil1 oil filter (car has 37,000 miles on it). It costs a little more, but I've never had any problems. The best thing about synthetics is that you don't have to be as "on time" with your changes. I usually shoot for around 6,000 miles, but if it's cold or rainy you can put it off without worrying.

On the other hand, my '94 Ford Taurus has around 200,000 miles, and I use whatever oil is on sale with a cheapo filter. It's never gave me any major engine problems either. (dunno)

Same here. I use mobil 7500 mile synthetic blend in the MP3, but use the cheap motorcraft synthetic blend in my 97 taurus. Both run perfectly, but the taurus is pushing 130k, the MP3 is only at 58k.
