synthetic oil change interval?

10,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first on my P5. Though i may stretch this change out to 12,000 just to get me back on a nice schedule (at 83k right now).

Synthetics are really pretty damn good. 3 or 5k mile change is a waste of money IMO. VW has some of the best synthetics, if you look up their 507 spec oil. You can go 20k miles in between changes on their diesels with those (and people have!). For people who are REALLY worried, you can always do an oil analysis test at 3 or 5k miles and they'll tell you how much life is left on your oil.

i used to change my P5's mobil 1 between 7-10K. would change it when it looked like it was getting dirty.......synthetic oil is made to last longer than the dino stuff and if it looks good, i figure don't change. i also would check my oil every month or so and before and after long trips. you should never run low on oil.

my mother's saab runs on mobil 1 and they say change every 10K........

im getting an msp and im curious about the warranty. You mention you change your oil every 5000 while its under warranty, which would imply you have to or you will void the warranty......but does this mean in order to keep the warranty you have to take your mazda back to the mazda dealership for an oil change every 5k??????

please say it aint so!

You better keep receipts. For warranty's sake, they'd rather see receipts from an oil change place than receipts from you doing it yourself. I'd play it safe. I've been through this with Mazda, and so have a bunch of others. They've tightened up a bunch on MSP warranty claims. I know it's bulls***, but they don't care.

I changed mine every 3k miles w/ mobil 1 full synthetic. Black as night everytime..
