Sylvania silverstar.....ULTRA?

silverstars are nice bulbs man. A small but good upgrade from stock bulbs. I believe they give 20% more visibility if Im not mistaken.

yeah, I already have silverstars, they're defentaly awsome.. but these ultra versions claim 25-30% more than the standard silverstars(that's what I think it said on the box at least).. so that's why I'm interested.

oh wow. If that's the case I'll check them out and possibly get them myself. Good stuff man!

i ve always had problems with silverstars only lasting one full year then burning out...not sure if i ll ever go back with them

thats the reason why I still have stock bulbs. At least you get a full year out of them, unlike my friend who used to buy PIAA's every 6 months....**** that!

25-30% seems like a good deal. I went from stock Mz3 Bulbs to (poor choice) EuroDezign bulbs, back to stock (which was brighter), then to Silverstars (the difference wasn't all to noticeable), and now 6000k HID's (with a difference you can notice) I might check these ultra's out for my Montero all depends on the cost. Anyone been to Autozone to find out the price? And I wonder how they compare to these: http://www.xenonexpert.com/xtechalogenbulbs.html

I just got some Osram Silverstars, and they're noticably brighter, but I would say not significantly brighter. I like how their color is close to stock bulb color, though.

anyone try these yet? I saw them in the autozone I stoped @ when I was clearing my CEL. They were going for $50.

tbh they don't really look all that much brighter than the standard silverstars, but they do seem "whiter".

anyway, post em if you got em.
I think they were $48.99 to be exact.

there are bulbs brighter than silverstars...which are bulls*** at best...for half the price from crutchfield catalog. Make sure that you get ones that are 9003 H4 mount unless you're gonna go HID. These are the ones I found " http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cySsPGYrMu9/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?I=529H140282 " they are 80/100w instead of 55/65w silverstars and they are only $39.

Depending on your car 80/100w might get too hot for your housing. To stay safe I'd stay with the 55/65w

you know, the napa near me sells regular 100/80 watt H4 bulbs for like $10 each - much better visibility, and they don't cost NEARLY as much

the silverstars were nice, havn't tried the new ones and won't because i have hid's now, because any aftermarket bulb kept blowing on me every 3-6 months.

I've had mine for about 3 months now, they're doing fine, but I think I'm going to just go get some $7 GE ones and sell my silverstars. (ughdance)

The value to a good lightbulb is not to just crank out more amps and more watts of power output to make it brighter. A good lightbulb achieves higher light output for the same power input by increasing efficiency, and at the same time minimizing heat.

^^^ which Sylvania Silverstars DO NOT do. Notice the painted glass to give it a nice "white" look? yeah that's absorbing light, boo. Osram Silverstars get the same color temp, at the same wattage, but *gasp* with no colored coating.

Halogens are a waste of time.. I had to replace silverstars and other such bulbs so often, a big waste of money if you ask me. Switch to HIDs and you'll rejoice forever :D

Went back to the autozone and advanced today.. all the Ultra series were either 9005/9006 or 9007 bulbs only. No 9003's in sight.

I will say that some Halogens are better than others. And if you can't afford HID's make sure you do your homework before you but aftermarket Halogens.
