if i'm switching from mineral oil to full synthetic should i use some kind of flush or cleaner before putting in the synthetic.im clueless on things like these. input would be greatly aprreciated

just do the switch, let the mineral drain for like an hour it'll be fine.

what syn are you switching to?

Most people use Mobil 1 5W30 in the winter and 10W30 in the summer.

I have used AMS Oil and am currently running Royal Purple W30.

I use MObil1 synthetic all year round. You will not need a flush when you want to change from your regular oil to synthetic.

Mobil1 is the s***. Excellent oil. My dumbass friend flush's his engine with diesel fuel whenever he changes his oil. Course he has a 76 diesel meredes, and I doubt theres a plastic gasket on the damn thing, but it still cant be good for it.

Yeah...dry startup that's great for it! Jiffy Lube has some engine flush that you'd dump in and run with the old oil before the change. Half a qt of ATF does the same thing.

FYI, you really want get the oil change done fairly quick, you don't want all the oil out of the system. Dry startups aren't good for the motor.

10w30 for me all year round...is it good to change weight back and forth like that from 5w to 10w?

Also for the synthetic guys...are you hearing a scream...like a high pitch scretch once the turbo spools up. I heard its called the "Turbo Scream." Just wondering if its normal or is it just my car. Once I punch the throttle I'll hear my turbo spool up and around 3 or 4 psi hear the scream.

spacemonkey, do you have a CAI? Now this is just an assumption:

Without a CAI, I could never hear my turbo really spool up, the stock airbox pretty much muffled it. Once I got the CAI, thats when I could hear the "Turbo Scream", or when my turbo was spooling up. Anyway, I could hear it before I switched to synthetic because of my CAI.

Do you have a CAI?

maybe it is...I just thought someone on this board say it was the oil...which didnt make much sense to me. Yeah but I could hear it spool up then the turbo scream...like they are 2 seperate sounds. Its probally not bad...I just thought It was boost gauge about to pop out. Thanks for the knocking some snese into me.
