sway bar questions....

ok, I've done a lot of searching on different forums and for some reason I cannot find the answer...

As far as sway bars go, I've generally thought that stiffer = better. If this is the case, then why did cobb go with smaller (read- less stiff) bars than hotchkis? Are there any issues with having a sway bar that's too stiff, like oversteer, etc? I know that a few have mentioned weak endlinks, but I can't seem to find anything definitive. I'm quickly finding myself becoming a Cobb fanboy, so I can't imagine they'd use an inferior product, lol.

from what I can see, those who have installed either one are thrilled with the results, so it's not so much what I should buy, but moreso the pros/cons of either setup

The stiffer the bars are, the less independent your independent suspension is. You lose compliance. One notable problem I have experienced with the Hotchkis bars is if I accelerate when going across a dip in a diagonal direction, I spin a tire. If one diagonal pair of tires is lower than the other diagonal pair, the low pair will lose traction. It's a price I am willing to pay, but it makes the car a bit less real-world friendly. YMMV.

thanks for the jack, read the first post, oh, and use the almighty search engine

less than 1/2 hour old... and already trying to threadjack it....

(didnt know you were such a drama queen about it...)

oh and if i didnt already say sorry, SORRY

Yes don't make the stiffer=better mistake. A good company will have the correct "tune" for street driving.

that's something I was concerned with... I'm new to tuning a "decent" vehicle, lol.... this isn't a 13 y/o honda, so I'm trying to plan it out a little instead of "oh, that looks cool!!"

Just go with a set of bars for street use. If you get track use bars they will probly be to stiff for the street.
