Swapped a new motor and car wont start.. Not getting any spark from coilpack!!!

:
Mazdaspeed Protege 2003.5
i put a new FSDE motor in to my 2002 protege and i wont get any spark from the coil pack...Harness is all hooked up where they are suppose to be all fuse are good. i dont know about the relay but they look good to me.. the car does crank and belts move if i keep on ignition but wont go on... what do you guys think it is? please help i need this car runnng its my daily...

Check to see if your injectors are working. Are they priming when you turn the key to on? Did you rewire anything? Wiring might have been done wrong.

Sounds like a timing issue. Did you swap your camshaft gears and crank pulley when you did the swap (depending on which car you got the engine from)? Had the exact same problem on my car.

The motor is from a 626 it came with different coilpack all I did was swapped it I put my old parts in to the new motor. all were in good condition.. Im just worried this car won't ever start and it's stressing me out because I have no transportation :/

did you swap cam gears ? They are different then the protege the 626 only has one cam pickup where as the protege has 3 iirc.

Yes fuel pump is working and no I didn't do that.. My cuzin used the same motor I used and didn't replace can pully. I called him and he told me it might be the crank sensor from top or bottom.. What you guys think???

You definitely need to swap your camshaft gears and crankshaft pulley if you haven't already. The camshaft gears have pickups on them that the camshaft position sensor needs for correct timing. Swap those out with the ones you had on your old motor and she should fire right up (barring any other issues you could possibly have).

you need to swap the cam gears.

you don't have to take the motor out but you will have to set the timing on it again. It can be done by your self but i recommend having a friend help hold the cam shafts while you are trying to time it.

You dont need to swap both cam gears, only the exhaust one. It can also be swapped if you are skilled without removing the timing belt or tensioner, you just need to lock the crank and intake cam in place.

That's on the head? The cam gear right because I have 2 cams on top

Man you are a brave soul taking on this project and not even knowing where the cams are.

While the Shop manual is not the best place to learn it will tell you everything you need to know. I would suggest doing a little research, I personally do not work on anything that I do not understand how it works as I am scared to mess something up.

Also the exhaust cam is on the side your exhaust manifold is on.

I would also double check all of your grounds, you will have one on by the passenger side motor mount and 2 at the head on the driver side front. You will still get spark with the 626 cam gears in place just not when it should.

You should be able to ziptie the timing belt to the intake cam gear and unbolt and slip the exhaust one out and swap the 626 one in...
