Swap from AT to MT for FD3s

Hi guys,

I have a nice 1993 FD3S with perfect in and out, however, it is equipped with Auto gear box. I always have a thought to swap for manual.

How difficulties will be the project?

it's not complicated since it has been done a million times, but it is extensive. there are quite a few parts that you need and there are lots of man hours associated with it. if you look around online, you can find a guide for it.

I've always said this to those interested in doing AT to MT...

if you have time, a daily to drive, don't mind spending money, etc.. then do the AT.

If you don't have a daily to drive around while the car is done, have limited wiring experience or car related experience, and or wanting an 'exact' MT FD, then I suggest selling your AT FD and buy a MT FD.

You could half ass and get the job done... but to do a proper MT swap where no one can't tell, will require time, money, and more time.

A little late to this thread, but I agree with this^.
I see alot of guys attracted to the low purchase cost of an AT FD and within months of buying it, they end up spending way more than it would have cost to buy a comparable MT FD in the first place. Not to mention the hassle of sourcing parts, down-time and labor.
