Surging issues

I have a 2006 Speed6 with roughly 7k miles. For about 2 months now I have had a wierd problem with the car surging while I am at even throttle in gears 3 and 4. As it gets to the higher RPMs the surging demishes. This does not occur at WOT or in gears 1,2,5,and6.

I took it to the dealer and they found oil on the charge side of the turbo and in the throttlebody. When they called the Mazda tech line they were told to change both O2 sensors and that oil on the charge side is perfectly fine.

Well...with 2 new O2 sensors it hasent gone away...

Any Ideas on what this might be?

The power loss recall has been done as well...

Thanks for the help...

It is not fuel. That was my first guess. I have tried Chevron, BP, and Shell and it has been consistant. I believe that it is caused by the oil blowing by the turbo seals on the charge side and into the throttle body, but Mazda says that I'm wrong.

will do! Anyone else have any clues or even the same problem?

I don't seem to have the problem and I have about 6830 miles on my car.....

do you have any mods on it?

I'm bone stock.... so I can't say if a certain mod is doing something.....

No mods here...I'm bone stock. I found oil on the charge side of the turbo and in the throttle body....I think thats what is causing the problem, but mazda disagrees with me.

Have any friends with a turbo'd car (that's not a mazdaspeed6)??

Perhaps you can check out there car and see if there is turbo on the charge side and in the throttle body...... I'll tell you right now there shouldn't be oil in the throttle body......and mazda says it's normal for this car? WTF???

well changed the gas in my car and that wasen't the problem! perhaps time for a turbo upgrade?

When I took it in for the surging...the tech was looking at diffrent things it could be and ruled out fouled plugs, clogged injectors, and bad gas. I had just had my oil changed like 2-3 weeks prior so when he popped the stick and saw that it was a quart down....that got him thinking. On a hunch he pulled off the intercooler and the charge pipe had some oil in it, but the kicker was that when he put his hand into the throttle body it came out coated in oil. (bang) (bang)

He was like "I think I found your problem lol" Then when he called mazda tech they told him...That the motor is susposed to use that much oil and that oil is susposed to be on the charge side.

I dont know about anyone else, but I think the car would surge when the motor tries to compress oil....but that's just me lol

yeah I don't believe there's supposed to be oil in the charge side or throttle body

I think Mazda is just telling technicians that it's "normal" because they're going to have a massive recall on turbos/engines if word gets out.........

Tell me about it.

Indeed.......especially when your technician checked the charge side and even said "I think I found your problem"

Because he learned in school, that it is NOT normal..... yet Mazda says it is (jerkit)

Well...kind of good news....today it seems to have mostly stopped. I still get a little surge in gears 3 and 4 now and then, but it seems to be running fine now.

We'll see how it does over the next few days...I think I'll remention it when I go in to get my Clutch TSB done early next week.

By the by...the new clutch feels great! (dance) I drove a friend's and it was like a completly diffrent and much cooler car!

Yeah I love my clutch...... you should definitely mention the surging, and if you've already had it flashed, tell them it's been flashed.....maybe even say TWICE, lol so they don't just flash it and tell you they "fixed" the problem......

Yeah...Tues is my date with the clutchmaster at Mazda. I can only hope it turns out as great as the one I drove.

i need to know what is causing this problem, alexi please help me go to the dealer tomorrow for your appoiment. make them finda what the problem is.

ps i should be giving you a shipping rate for the rims lata today!

The surging was gone for a little while over these past coupple of days. Now that the fuel light has come on it has started again. Maybe a fuel pump/sending unit issue?
