Sunroof

I wouldn't put a non-factory sunroof on any car...

The only way to go is getting it original from the factory. I've only heard horror stories from aftermarket sunroofs... leaks, leaks, leaks, and more leaks.

I would just wait to get one on the next vehicle...

Just my .02 cents...

isnt there a reason the ms3 dosent have a sunroof... as far as frame stability and handlings goes...

Yes the solid roof gives better chassis stiffness which in turn gives better handling... I really dont know how muhc stiffness you would lose tho..

A power sunroof also adds @50 pounds at the highest point on the car- which is exactly where you don't want it. As racer TC Kline told me, "It's like mounting your battery on the roof."

A sunroof on a MS3 doesn't detract a significant amount of stiffness. I read that they didn't make it an option because it could interrupt the flow of air over the spoiler, causing a loss of downforce at 100+ speeds. Not really a real-world excuse if you ask me, but Audi has already been down the legal road with a similar concern over the TT, to the point that a recall was done to install a spoiler. I guess they just don't want people getting killed in a MS3 by giving it similar lift-throttle tail-happiness.

Other possible side effects are creaks during torsional movements. If it's not a precise install (down to the last micrometer) creaking, rubbing and rattling could be an issue. Not something I'd want done if not at the factory.

There is a documented case of a person installing it in an MS3 for about $1000. Looks good, and it looks professional. Not a fan of the solid roof, myself, but eh, that's what rolling down the windows is all about. :)

Just saw the video and that headliner is horrible...especially on the rear passenger/hatch side. I do have to admit the sunroof option is nice, but I can see that headliner detaching from the roof over time...

I wonder where the drainage for that sunroof is plumbed to...?
In factory cars its usually plumbed to the pillars.

o yea i agree wit the others, aftermarket sunroofs arent as great as OEM ones. if she wanted one, she should've opted to get one from the factory. i heard horror stories of rust and crap from aftermarket sunroofs.
