sunroof on MS3...what do you think ?

Just strip your headliner off and you'll see the reinforcements...

I would not advise it...you will get creek and crack sounds eventually.

Up to you...the value of your MS3 will go down the drain along with your paint/body warranty. If you drive like a senior, then you won't notice a difference other than leaks and creeks.

Thank you. finally informed people posting. unlike the one person with the station wagon comment. exactly call the factory as i have and question them why it didnt come with a sunroof option in the first place. reinforcements in the roof the interlock with the stability of the car. u compromise one, then u compromise them all. over time u will notice a differance. Thank you to the people who actually know sumthing for posting

by the way. the evo with a sunroof comment. im not sure how that is stabilized throughout the body, but i do know if they included a sunroof, they engineered the cars stability for that. the ms3 however isnt. wether u need to be an a+ driver to notice a diferance or not the fact remains. it is highly recomended from the dealer, factory, and every performance garage ive talked to...dont put one in, over time as the post says before me, u will weaken the car and hear plenty of extra creeks.

why is it being a station wagon a bad thing? there is no doubt that a big hole in the roof makes the car structurally weaker, particularly an aftermarket one because they are not engineered in any way they are just holes in the roof with glass. my theory is that since most people use the car as their A to B car with occassional spirited driving and not for autocross or any other form of racing and truly never approach the car's limits the weakened structural rigidity will not be noticed in any way

you spoke with someone at mazda NA and not at your local dealer about this? i don't know if it's true or not i just have yet to see proof that there is extra reinforcement in the roof of an MS3 that is not in the roof of a normal 3 and that is the reason that a sunroof was not offered. all i've heard is anecdotal evidence

If your a senior, you wont be able to tell the difference or hear them anyways. (attn)

i agree that an aftermarket sunroof is a bad idea as i've said many times. however i haven't seen any real evidence that suggests that the reason the MS3 never came with a sunroof is because of extra reinforcement in the roof which the engineers at mazda were unable to engineer around

as i said ive talked to a couple dealers and called the fact. both say the same thing. its becasue of extra support in the roof. maybe ill tear open my roof and see wuts up there? hah. if a sunroof is important to sum1 then hey why not. just be aware of the possibilty of problems, thats all. and i didnt take ur station wagon as a knock....its one dam fun station wagon. ha

haha. true that. one dealer i test drove a speed3 with back when, stalled the car 3 times in the parking lot, lol
