Sunroof on a MSP

2003.5 BYM MSP
This seemed to be a big hit at the MOCC meet last weekend, so I thought I'd post some pics (with a little push from Ms. Spicy).

History: I went in to the dealer to lease a 6s and the price was so good on the MSP that I had to get it. I had to have a sunroof, so I had the dealer install it and I financed the cost ($1,000). Below are the results:

First post is the outside pics (closed). Second post is inside (closed). Third is vented, and fourth is open.

From the front:

From the rear:

From the side:

Inside, closed:

The control buttons are on the right (front) and the light was moved to the rear. The close-up of the buttons is really poor, but I'll explain them:

The buttons (from top/left to bottom/right) are: Open, Close, Vent, and ASC.

Open = open the sunroof
Close = close
Vent = tilt
ASC = auto-close

If you hit "Open", it opens all the way unless you hit a button, so it's fully automatic. The "ASC" button toggles whether the roof closes when you turn off the car. (Kick ass!)

that kicks ass!.
I wish there was an option from Mazda from the beginning. I think this is a good option for those of us who don't autoX and worry about chasis flex.

I have the same sunroof on my laser blue MSP....

DAMN YOU!!! I thought I was the only one!!!! j/k looks great man!!

I hate the green buttons tho... I so want the blue or red to match the interior

Isn't that the Hollandia Emerald Series sunroof? I think you can get those installed at Western Sunroof for $895 with a 10 year leak guarantee. Looks nice, I want one now...

that may be very do-able. You probably could open the housing and replace or scrape the bulbs to change the color:)

I miss having a sunroof!!(sad2) How long did it take your dealership to do the install? $1000 for the whole thing? That include the labor as well? I wonder if my dealership would do the same?(shrug)

Wow that does look really nice. I had a sunroof on my old T-Bird and I miss it, but not enough to shell out $1000. Id rather do lots of engine stuff first :) .

Nice, but don't the installers have to cut through the center roof brace to install the sunroof? That is the only reason I didn't get one. What brand is that roof???

It's a ASC brand sunroof I think... the company that installed it said the button color could not be changed, but I'm looking into it. I imagine that since they said no, and I find a way to do it, it will viod my warranty...but the green gets on my nerves to no end!

i have the same one. been installed since feb with absolutely no problems at all!

it is an ASC840 moonroof.
