so what kind of racing are you looking at? i can tell you that the mazdaspeed protege will be a very expensive car to campaign in road racing. I know that in auto cross you will certainly have fun for far less money than in roadracing but i would say upgrade your brake pads and go to a track school day not an open track day and listen to your instructor and let him drive your car and show you what it is capable of, i am sure there aren't many people who are taking full advantage of the car in its stock form. it is really a very capable car. that said i am going out to the garage to start bolting stuff onto my speed. I like spinning wrenches far to much to even take my own advice.travisto said:Thanks for reading the whole thread. (bowdown) I wasn't sure the SCCA would have different classes for stock or tuned vehicles. (wiggle) I'll get that book. I hope they consider the MSP a "stock" vehicle. Oh, by the way there is a track about an hour from my house. I'm not sure on the spelling but I think it is Hallet Raceway. I know they host races for many car clubs, and you can go down on just about any given day and pay $100 for all day use of the track! (wow) Thanks again for the info! (bowdown)
