Such BS from my dealer...

So i go to my dealer the other day for my second oil change (@ 7200 miles). I bring my own Castrol Syntec for the oil and guess what he says...

" This engine was not made for synthetic oil. There are seals in the engine that are degraded by synthetic oil. The only cars I've seen this happen to were by owners who used synthetic oil. If we use your oil then I have to put a note on your warranty. If your engine has a similar failure then it will not be covered. "

Something along those lines....What Bull s***! I want to ******* use Synthetic oil and he basically bullied me into using regular Mazda brand 5W-30. I drive my car pretty hard most of the time so I want to have oil that will not break down as easily.

What do you all think I should do???

I went in to the dealer to get my oil changed and they specifically told me they were only going to use synthetic. Perhaps he meant that you couldn't use the oil you brought in and he was trying to sell you his own synthetic

most shops/dealers wont let you use your own parts and fluids. they make $$ on this stuff and they dont want to warranty parts and fluids they dont use and have deal with directly.

Mazda says they do not test their engines with synthetic, but they do not say not to use it. I believe Mazda says not to use synthetic in the RX8. I could be wrong.

I would ask your dealership to show you in the owner's manual where it says not to use synthetic.

You dont use synthetic in a rotary engine but I've had synthetic in my car since 2k miles. I've taken my own penzoil platinum to the dealer and have them put it in no problem. Charged me $15, their mobile 1 oil change is around $100, crazy.

I have used synthetic twice so far (5000 miles each time), and the dealer has never said a word. The owner's manual says nothing--nothing--concerning the type of oil you should use, as long as it's 5W30. Some service advisors are just plain idiots unfortunately--unless he's actually a marketing genius and wants you to use the well oil since he makes a killing in profit.

In any case, my dealer charges me about $35 to change the oil that I bring (Mobil 1) and rotate the tires, and on top he doesn't say idiotic comments about not using a synthetic oil. So, not a bad deal at all.

Before i extremly voided my warranty i had my oil changes at the dealer with synthetic no problems. Tell your dealer to go f*&^ him self and get his money back for his GED he just recieved.

My dealer gave me free oil changes for as long as I own the car, I asked about providing my own synthetic oil and my service advisor said "No problem." Rotaries are the only Mazdas that shouldn't use synthetic. Your dealer is a moron.

Never had a dealer tell me I couldn't use my own oil.

I had a similar issue. One guy told me synthetic oil was what caused the smoking turbos. Another told me mazda doesn't recommend synthetic on any of their cars. I have been told synthetic oil transfers heat from the engine to the turbo which causes them to smoke.

THIS IS ALL bulls***! Synthetic actually keeps your seals in good health longer then conventional oil. At first I bought into it because my car was new, and i was afraid of ******* it up. The fact of the matter is the dealers aren't chemists, physicists, engineers etc etc. If you read the science behind how synthetic oil works you can defuse all their stupid rumors.

A third dealer told me they used to be against it but now they are ok with it. Alot of it comes from mazda's love affair with rotary engines. Synthetic is bad for rotaries. They all told me I could use it if i wanted to, but if something catastrophic happened they weren't responsible if my warranty was voided.

I put it in and never looked back. No where does mazda say not to use synthetic oil. They only list the specifications and qualifications the oil must have. Follow those guidelines and you are all set.

Crap if you find manatee jizz that meets the specs in your owners manual go ahead and use it.

Go back and slap him in the face.........that's a big pile of crap. I'd go back and ask him why synthetic oil was invented then. I'd like to hear him make up more crap. Lame excuse to sell you their oil so that they can put more dollars in the department. Synthetic will protect your engine and seals better than regular grade oil.

whoa, Cool your Snatch mister (stooges)

I could not pass that up

Is your dealer speed certified? just curious if this is a money thing or a stoopid thing

But what if you bring synthetic manatee jizz?...would the dealer turn you away?

Funny... my dealer is more than happy to use Pennzoil Platinum (their preferred brand) every time. And I see above that someone else's dealer stocks Mobil 1. Your Service Advisor is just a 'tard. I'd ask him to show me documentation where Mazda says not to use synthetic, and when he can't, tell him to STFU & change your oil with synthetic.

I'd also write a letter to the dealership- be sure to find out who runs the show & address it to him/her- and let them know that their Service Advisor is giving people false information. Be sure to use the term "deceptive sales practices." Maybe throw in "fraud" and "scare tactics" while you're at it. You'll never hear another peep out of that idiot Service ADvisor.

Because he would get tossed, lol. I've worked as a Service Advisor before, and I relaly don't know where the heck he would get that info. I do agree with BillTheCat though, write a letter, talk with the Service Manager, someone in charge there, because I doubt you are the only one that has heard BS from this guy.

That would be a fun note to show corporate.

we're going down a list of dealers to cut loose,..... and you are a winner!!!

If it meets the ratings in the manual he shouldn't.... He might however question why you synthetic manatee jizz, when the real stuff is so cheap and easy to get.
