How do you go about installing them, do they just slide on over the magnets i'm assuming?

Another question for you audio gurus. I've replaced the front speakers with new ones, but the original front ones still work and sound half decent. Just wondering if there's somewhere i could mount them (2 - 6x8's) and how would i go about running power to them?

Hella - Anytime you see flex or rattling, you are losing sound pressure. This generally translates into a loss in perception regarding volume.

The factory deadener in the Proteges is little more than a joke... a few dollars spent and some time with applying a sound deadener will do wonderful things. My doors shut like a benz.

A good budget way to get more 'umph' out of your doors without pulling door panels and going at the metal is to use a foam baffle mounted behind the speaker... effectively making a 'box' to fit. You'll be impressed with the mid bass response after.

I also lol'd @ the amount of mis-information going around.
caps: junk (especially cheap ones) they smooth out voltage, and can sometimes bump it to a steady 14.4V, do nothing for headlight dimming
other solutions are: 2 battery's, bigger batteries.

Sound deadening is awesome but if you're gonna deaden the doors, seal them up. The door then becomes a box.
Those foam baffles are better for keeping rain water away from the back of the speaker, most speakers aren't designed to work in that small of a box, polyfilling will only make them heat up.

They mount between the door and the speaker, and hang out behind the speaker. I'd be surprised, as I haven't tried it, if they fit without hitting the window, most 6 1/2 and 6/8 need a spacer or they'll rattle the window when it's rolled down.

@hella, don't use the stock ones you already bought better ones. More speaker does not equal better sound. I only have front speakers and a sub in the trunk. keep it simple, and put that money/effort in other parts of your system.

What's a decent mid/ bass 6.5" speaker that's not expensive? I already have 3 ways just want a little more bass to it

I don't think you have 3 ways FYI... thats just a term that has lost its meaning.

If all you want is a little more bass, amp your current ones. Not sure what they are but amping is a night and day difference.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested simply upgrading the grounds. I ran Focal amped JL components up front and Alpine Type S in the rear, along with a second Focal amp powering my Clarion PXW1051 sub running at a little over 600W RMS. I noticed pretty substantial dimming on prolonged or heavy bass hits, and sometimes, such as in my case, the ol' big 3 did the trick. Did I mention it cost me just shy of $20?

On capacitors - they have their uses. Yes, most people use them incorrectly. Yes, in your case, it would likely be a waste. If you're going to drop $50-$100 on a cap, just buy a Kinetik HC600. Cheap-ish, extremely effective solution.

As for your audio choices... Not my personal taste. Ever since the JVC/Kenwood mashup I've been unhappy with their products. I'd recommend the Clarion subs - although honestly, my single 10", sealed, hit harder and cleaner than any of the Future Shop dual 12 setups I sold (I know, shameful past job). Look at sonicelectronix for deals, their prices are great (far better than box stores which basically bend you over with 100% markups) and I've personally had wonderful experiences with them. Lots of people on here will agree.

Massive difference, and I used to have a Mercedes, so I know the value of good sound isolation and vibration suppression. And for the sub woofer idea, I am highly biased towards SSA, but for good reason as very high value sub woofer that is made in America that you can by direct with an awesome feedback and track record should be at the top of the list over most major big box store companies. But I will stop there as I am not a paying vendor.

They are 3 ways but it is needs 2 more it's for my Honda not protege the 20 yr old speakers couldn't take what I gave them I just want to know a speaker that can handle bass as my stereo lets me send all base to the rear speakers... It will be getting some sound deadner as well, probly fat mat but I'm new to all of this which is why I'm asking
