I agree to an extent. The CX7 isn't even close to my Evo as far as performance. Never will be.9Hooker said:It seems that even in this thread there are some Mazda fanbois. People get tunnel vision when they place themselves within a certain maker's "camp".
If you really want to compare apples to apples, harsh criticisms need to be made:
CX-7, it's a baby-suv. It's not fast, it wasn't really meant to be. Talk about it going up against an STi or EVO is completely foolish. If you want a fast car it's gotta be light and have power. 3900+ lbs and 240hp, even with a 6 speed (slush box), it's still crap. Oh, yeah, most of them are FWD. It handles very well for an SUV, but when compared to the "sportier" cars like the speed 3/6, evo, eagle talons/eclipses/starions, fc3's, it's still crap.
Racing an SUV?? It's an exercise in futility if you look at cold hard facts.
Does that mean I'm not going to put on an efficient downpipe and upgrade the intercooler and make some fuel adjustments? Nope. If I can see making the car more powerful and saving gas in the mean time.. I'm all for it. Will I be doing AWD burnouts in the snow this week... yep. But turning the CX-7 into a street racer is :wtf:
Go buy a gen 1 or 2 eclipse AWD for $1500, dump $1500 into a nice turbo upgrade, $1500 into a 2.3L stoker kit, and a few hundred on fuel upgrades and some dyno time... you'll be able to spank ~95% of cars on the road... all for less than $5k. why bother making a two ton hunk of crap fast?
That's just my humble e-opinion.

Mine has no problem with me putting money into my Evo....as long as we can pay the bills.9Hooker said:But alas, the wife decided that was not in my best interest.![]()

(still gonna upgrade the downpipe and IC and get better fuel mapping in the 7)
