subaru offering 6k off msrp + 0% financing for up to 63 mos

hopefully he's just blowing sunshine up my ass trying for his sale

nah, if you look at the fine print in the ad, it says "offer expires 11/0X/08". this person is probably telling you the truth. the resolution is not high enough for me to really see the actual day, but it's a single digit after a 0.

for even a base model STI, that latest price is still under invoice......it is a good deal, just not a wild deal like previously shown.

hahahaha, posting the same thing twice, or even three times, isn't helping your case. a person who buys an STI is not paying a premium for JUST awd. i stated what you are paying for aside from that- more refinement, a proven tuning platform that is less finicky and more powerful, in stock form AND when modded. there is no guessing and bandaids with the Subaru like there are with the MS3. the STI is not using parts on the high end of their peak ability like that in the MS3...it's not nearly as stretched thin.

people strive, for the most part on this forum, to eek some more power out of their car. so, let's look at that aspect. the STI can see 325whp very easily with very minimal modification, which translates to a peak chp of over 400hp due to the awd drivetrain loss. an ms3 can't do that, not anywhere near as reliably as the STI (especially for the same money at this deal), and even if it could, it'd never be able to get the power down without being a major PITA.

i know you are absolutely in love with your MS3. you've shown it over and over by being overly protective of your purchase on this forum. but, that doesn't mean for most people on this forum that if the price is right, that the STI isn't a better car overall. you have to look objectively here, and also understand that you didn't make this thread, the OP did and i'm giving info directly related to what he is looking for. he ALREADY has the ms3, s***, so do i, you don't have to sell anyone on that car.

do you understand that?

Dude you sound like a broken record! I simply stated reason's why I wouldn't buy an STI, get over buddy. Overly protective of my purchase? Lay of the dope. If I were going to spend 30K plus on a car it would be a 135i or a EVO X GSR, both a lot better than the STI IMO plus they don't look like coc ca. You on the other hand sound like you have a giant throbbing hard on for STI's.

yea its over 11/03/08

but the avondale, AZ ad doesn't have an expiration
i know dealers are getting 6k in incentives to unload sti's right now.

says the pot who posted the same information about HIS car choice twice, verbatim. i don't recall anyone asking you (or anyone period, for that matter) why you (or anyone) got an MS3, do you???? go back and look. noone asked. lol...

hmm, if that is definately the case, then i'd push the issue with as many dealers as possible and see what turns up.

the reason Edmunds doesnt have this info yet is because the incentives were released today at 1pm central. this is fresh information - the reason theyre offering 7k off MSRP (4k under absolute cost) is because subaru is offering 6k incentives to dealers selling 2 or more STis this month. they can move their inventory quickly by passing along every dollar SoA is giving them, similar to the nissan deal of august

s***, in this economy, with that deal, if you can qualify for financing, they should jump all over your requested price. that internet person is just negotiating i'd assume. considering the info you know, you can DEF work them down to the price you were originally attracted to.

hah i haven't even test drove it yet, for all i know it will not be enuf for me to justify upgrading my ms3, we'll see :)

true!, but, i'd be willing to bet that you'll like it, especially if you can go on your own. it's a very fun car, just not for the price they were asking. under 30K makes it a very attractive car considering the experience.

I was simply outlining what I thought are the PRO and CONS of this situation. WHAT PART OF THIS DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?? No one asked for all the crap you posted about either. You just don't like to read what I have to say about your beloved STI because you’re about 2 sec’s away from trading your MS3 in for one because you think you’ll get one for 29k. I just offered feedback as to why it wouldn’t be worth it to me and probably most others. MSRP is only part of the picture anyway.

wow ok relax, no need to argue, just posted what i thought was a GREAT price for an awesome car. ms3 is great as well or i wouldn't have bought it.
but if the sti was 29k back when i was shopping, i probably would not have gotten the ms3 hah !

yeah don't mind 15min5k, he always gets unnerved and hostile. he quoted my post but is talking about your intentions with an STI, so just don't mind him ; )

anyway, let us know what happens. the work you are about to put in (if you like the test drive, haha) is the exact reason i don't buy from a dealership. i let my broker handle that BS. but special cases like this make it a necessary evil i guess.

Agreed. Although, after talking to my buddy who has an 08 STI, there's quite a bit to be careful for. Besides the normal TSB stuff, their stock ECU tune is completely opposite from our cars. They run incredibly lean. Hm.

Yea this is a good deal, I have been thinking about what I wanna do. I feel like I would have a hard time selling my MS3.

Well a couple things are stopping me. The unrealistic chance of being able to trade the car in with positive equity, and the fact that I enjoy my car so much!

I am in the positive myself, If i could get 19k for my car that would be a nice down payment on the STI plus I have some good credit. I would love the AWD in this Utah weather.

Car's in perfect condition with only 3800 miles, but something tells me i'll hardly get what I would expect to get. Technically, a GT costs $25k + tax. So you figure around $2k in tax. So that would mean the average MS3 GT purchaser would be paying around $26-$27k. Now obviously that's not extremely true considering a lot of people (myself included) got S-plan. But regardless, i'm still $6k under what an average person would have financed. I'm pretty sure I can get it appraised for what I want.

Reality is, i've only sat in one, and been a passenger in one for a gentle first drive. I've never driven one myself, nor do I know if i'd even like it really.
