Late entry, but I *LOVE* my 10W6's that are currently in my beetle. Bandpass, Parallelled all the way down to 1.5Ohm, running bridged on a Phoenix Gold ZX350v2. Backed up my a PG 1fd cap.

I *HAD* a BUNCH, but can't find 'em for some reason! It looks nowhere near as nice, now. Top vinyl cover-board isn't on, plexi over amps isn't on, etc... you know how it goes!

Yeah, I did plexi on one of my first installs...it got all scratched up and I realized that plexi looks good in magazines, but trunk liner is the only way to go if you plan to actually use your trunk/hatch.

hey man want some really good sound go for a mtx 15" RFL
you might need a few more amps though.
if not go for a alpine r 12 they are sweet

Nice install.
My choice is all but 100%, being 2 12W6v2.

THe RFL are nice but a DB sub only.
Alpine is not a possibility becuase there discounts SUCK ASS! :D

4 or 5 6s or 8s mounted in the rear deck

DONT TEMP ME!!!

I was actualy considering redoing the redeck for 2 10W6v2 or 3 8W7 :D

RFL's? Man...I heard they sound like absolute sh!t, because those are SPL-only subs! Rebuildable and everything, but yeah, dB competitions only. 'W6's are awesome. I've been pounding these 2 10W6-6's for a few years, and they haven't even burped yet.

have you actually heard them, man they are the sweetest things ive heard you just have to have a crap load of power just to run one of them. and they are alot of $$$$, but yea you need 4 amps to get good loud clean sound out of them.

anything jl...................they have the best subs, hands down. you know that:)

:bs:
it's been proven time and time again that yes JL makes very good equipment, but it is far from the best. as far as subs are concerned, get a brahma;) i love the 10 i just got, and you know i'm a fan of 15's:D but since you are more for SQ, not SPL, the A-series from e-designs would have been a sweet choice. freq response of 14-200 hz:eek: nice low end for a 12. and not to mention 10 mm higher Xmax than the W6's;) and a price of $295 direct is pretty sweet:D

Actualy I would have to say JL is the best subs.
Keep one thing in mind, who does Brahma get compared too? How about elemental? Infinity, MTX, RF, Eclipse, BA? Anything not strickly SPL is ALWAYS compared to JL first.

As stated before the decision was 2 12W6v2's. Although I may lean toward a 12W7 but only if I do the 8" dynaudio drivers in the doors.

you and your damned JL audio:rolleyes: brahma's get compared to JL, and kick their asses:D let me know when JL gets compared to a velodyne servo driven sub;) i know JL is definitely one of the best, but IMO there are better subs out there, and many times they cost less;) take the new sony line up. they smoke all JL products(rofl)

I'd stick with the W7 even over a brahma. The Brahma is a SPL subwoofer design and was from the begging. I also notice I have yet to see ANY serious SQ compeditor even give it a nod let alone a better then JL rating.

Taking it a step further I have yet to see a single Brahma AT ALL in competition, SPL or SQ. Kind of odd considering their price. Another interesting point on Brahmas is that no one that doesn't frequent internet forums has even a slight clue of the Brahmas existance. Also the elemental and shiva and all that crap is in the exact same boat. Never seen them tested, compeated with and damn near no one even knows they exist. When either has 1/1000000 of JLs winning record I will give them props until then there just another "We are better then JL company". Easy words but NO proof.

As stated by the VP of Tech. at JL himself. The W7s SPL potential is a result of its amazing abilities as an SQ especialy its ability to stay perfectly linear at ungodly power levels and excursion points. But was not a SPL woofer in design.

we know that the W7 is an extemely linear sub, but so is the brahma. yes they designed it to be an SPL sub, but with the XBL2 technology, it's one of the most linear subs on the market. being that the brahma was designed for SPL, why would SQ competitors look into it? they'll stick with what all the other competitors are running. that's like saying why don't more SQ competitors use solo barics for their systems? adire audio is not a well known brand for car audio, cause they haven't been around for years like JL. JL is mainstream, and they've done extremely well to keep their quality up over the years. look at the other major mainstream brands. IMO their quality goes down once they get huge. JL has been the exception to that. i've seen 7 vehicles using brahma's in the past year. all SPL, of course. brahma's hold the reigning world record for dB drags SS 9+, MECA XR3/M7 (the loudest MECA vehicle EVER), and SLAP dBQ pro street (yes, an SQ class) 2002 champion. both adire audio and elemental designs have their dumax tests available, why doesn't JL? i've seen various magazines that have included dumax reports, and they all verify adire's claims. the W7 was designed for SQ, but turned out to be a good SPL competitor. the brahma was designed for SPL, but turned out to have amazing SQ. it's funny that 2 subs designed for 2 different things would turn out so similar. high excursion and extreme linearity. both hold patents on their technology. but one happens to have more publicity and following from those who don't research their systems before picking it out. that is not to say that many people buy JL after much research. but you have to admit, most people running JL heard from someone that they rocked, and they went to a store and said "i want JL. make it loud"

You just said it was superior to the W7 meaning it is better then the current king of SQ thus why wouldn't someone use it if it was better.

Solobarics are in no way an SQ sub so not really cosiderable but I did see a guy run a stroker 15" sub in an SQ car. Actualy sounded very good.

Just ask for them. If there is a legit test for a sub I Guarentee JL has done it on there sub.
Hit carsound and ask a question, in forum to Msmith about the tests. Just keeping badmouthing, Be nasty, JL and he will show up I guarentee it :D.

i consider the brahma's to be up at the top with the W7's for SQ. but the brahma takes the SPL contest;) i've seen a few people running strokers for SQ, and it just bothered the hell out of me. every stroker i've heard hit hard as hell, but sounded like s***.
