Stupid noob boob question

Ok i've been around cars for awhile, i've always wanted to mod, but never really successful. But i have never ventured into rims, i've alwayz rolled on steelies, my question is what is offset, because im trying to figure out if the rims im trying to buy will fit the offset is 40, 17", lug pattern is 5-100/5-114.3, i plan on sticking on parada tires

all of this will go on an 06' 3I
please forgive my lazyness, i dont have internet at home and dont have much time for searching though i have searched, and found nothing quick enough in my 15 mins of break time again im sorry and thanks for responses in advance

cool so it will fit depending on tires if im reading it correctly thanx Breeegz now im pretty sure this isnt in the forum, will tein h-tech springs make it rub? how bout s-tech?

edit-found info, some one had 17x7 wheels with +40 offset and a good size tire, sorry for wasting time and space, thanks for patience
