stupid fire ant bit me

So I got bit by a fire ant and psh...its a stupid ant, no big deal, i squashed the b**** and kept on with my day.

Throughout the day I had this itching...Ive forgotten I got bit there by the ant, and thought it was a mosquito bite, since it was a lump, swelled like a mosquitoe bite and itched.

Today I still had it, and it still itched...not common on mosquitoe bites...anyways, today i thought back and realize it was the ant bite. I looked it up on the internet (yay wikipedia), an dit says it can cause inflamation, pus, infection, and all kinds of crazy sh1t.

My question is...whats up with this? is it bad or no biggy? I doesnt hurt or anything, just itches like a motha...

im no doctor and i dont play one on tv. but keep an eye on it. it shouldn't get THAT much bigger. you may have an allergic reaction.

Clean it well and use some after-bite to reduce the itch..by all means don't scratch it open...That's how it'll get infected..

An antihestimine would also reduce the swelling and itch a bit as well.

i believe if you were allergic you would have been much worse by now...if you're worried, take a benadryl and call it a day...

I mean, i heard that if you are allergic, the moment or around the time the bite occurs, you feel nauseous, fever, etc...i didnt get none of that. Just a regular reaction I guess.

A mosquito bit is a mild allergic reaction...Not all reactions are extreme.

lol, don't worry, it'll go away in a few days. What you can do is pop the puss part and squeeze out the venom, it'll ease the itching a little bit and just put a bandaid on it.

You live and Florida and never have been bitten by a fire ant? Anyways, over here in Louisiana fire ants are pretty common. I wouldn't worry about it, but those little bites can get sore. If you decide to pop it, make sure you clean it first, then clean the wound with anti-bacterial soap.

I get a firebite ant about once a month in the summertime. they swell up like huge pimples and itch like **** for about a week or longer in my case. They suck, as you are finding out. You'll be fine. Benadryl, popping the "pimple head", and putting some plain oatmeal on the wound all work for me.

Yep, gotta get the top off the bite for it to heal...just make sure your hands or whatever your taking the top off with is clean - and then antibacterial soap to clean it, and some neosporin to prevent infection and/or benadryl if you're still itchy. I find once the top is gone, most of the itch disappears and they heal pretty quickly.

put a little bit of amonia on a paper towel and hold it on the bite for about three minutes.. it won't itch any more at all.. this works 100% of the time when you do it right after the bite.. it may not work as well now..

lol i have been bitten before but i dont remember getting this reaction...a day after writing the original post, i found out that i got bitten in the heels, feet and one in the back...lol, i just subconsciously scratch my itches without paying them much attention...i realize that when it would let me sleep cuz of all the itching...it clicked while i was laying in bed lol...i was like "aww fck....bleh"

I dont think i have pus...well, that i know off, its healing well, i put some bendryl and neosporin.

I was playing ping pong and laid down on the grass to reach over to get the stupid ball that went into the bushes and whatayaknow...ant pile. lol.
