ok so one of the studs on the exhaust side of the head stripped the threads and its not repairable. should i go with a larger bolt or can a helicoil be used to repair it?

I would re-tap the threading into the head. Will be better than just sticking a bigger bolt in.

tried it but the tap doest grab since there is no metal to grab onto. i never used helicoils so i am not sure id you drill out and put the inserts or if you need some thread or what.

I've never used them either, so I'm not sure how they work. Did you try the next size down tap? Why wouldn't it grab?

so install helicoils or timecerts

aluminum is very soft metal, you strip that s*** and you're ******

and when you reinstall the manifold, make sure you torque it to spec! I posted that s*** in the sticky and most people ignore it! overtorquing results in stripped threads on the MSP!
