hello everyone I am new here and I was changing the brakes on my 02 protege and i got the front drivers side on just fine.. but then when i tried the passenger side i somehow stripped the caliper bolt/guide pin... what im wondering is what should i use? should i use vise grips or should i get a stripped bolt remover? what should i do? thanks

I know how you stripped it. You didnt use the right size socket/wrench OR you were being lazy and were turning the wrench/socket at an angle. Vise grips will work. If not then yeah your only choice is a bolt extractor. You pretty much answered you own question lol Make sure you buy a new fresh unstripped caliper bolt.....

Take the whole caliper off the hub. Then the piston assembly should slide off of the guide pins.

Try a six-point socket first. Given how easily Proteges disintegrate, 12-point sockets and wrenches should be avoided.
