strange noise?

I have a high pitched rattle or ping sound when I shift or let out the clutch. It makes this sound every time unless I'm real smooth or easy. It sort of sounds like an exhaust heat shield is loose.
In searching for it I found this cap that seems to be the pressure relief valve its where the shift levers come out of the transmission . It feels loose, but is supported internally by a spring. are they all like that? I think it may be the source of this noise or is it probably something else?

That cap must be loose, it is the vent

can you recreate the noise in the driveway by dipping the clutch? or must torque be applied to the drivetrain? ie rocking the engine in the bay and making intermittent contact

the noise isn't that vent. I slipped a couple o-rings over it to support it from underneath, and the noise hasn't gone away

what I'm the only one with this problem?

I took the wheel off, and can't find anything loose I'm guessing its the strut

i have a similar issue, it sounds like the exhaust is banging or jiggiling. I gotta check my rear mount and then exhaust hangers. Not sure what it could be.

What made you lead to this thought? Im gonna jack my car up tonihgt or this weeeknd to at least double check on the mount. Im sur eits ine but worht a check.

I had something similar as one of the symptoms of my left front's wheel not being screwed on to "factory recommended settings" as my dealer put it.

Took it to the dealer when the ping on shift turned to rubbing/grinding noise when my foot was off the gas. Dealer drove it around the block, heard it too, took the wheel off and and put it back on and both noises went away.
