strange noise question

2010 FWD GT with a noise that appears to come from the front left probably from the wheel area. This only happens at times and only lasts for about a 1 or 2 count. Makes no difference if I'm turning, slowing down, speeding up, or if the road is smooth or rough. Just every so often it decides to do it. The dealer took a look and of course could not re-create it though he did make a log entry. It is a "regular' rythmatic type sound that is just loud enough to be heard by both front passengers if the radio is not on at the time. I would describe it as like "tick, tick, tick, tick". It almost seems to be rachet type relay resetting. (If there was such a thing.)

We had a 2004 G35 that made a sound every time you backed out of a parking space and then drove forward. This was normal with the anti lock braking system resetting. It sounds faintly like that.

Any ideas?

Seems to me that this is the inevitable spline clicking that occurs. I had my splines greased and they are clicking again 4 months later. Mine is an 07 though.

Took my 08 GT in to the dealer last week for a similar noise. Seemed to be in the front right area.

I left it over night and called the dealers service rep the next day. He said they could not duplicate the noise, but he would take it out one more time and call me back soon.

This time he took a tech with him and they heard the noise. Found it to be a deflector plate/guard touching the disc brake rotor intermittently when turning left. No signs it was struck and bent, but it somehow had been deflected enough to contact the rotor causing the noise. They bent it back into position and the noise is gone.
