Strange brake problem

Installed hawk pads last friday. I know that they are supposed to be really loud, but damn... The thing that's driving me nuts is that the divers side front when I hit bumps or turn left makes a dragging noise. I have taken the assembly apart and but it back together like 5 times. All the springs are installed correctly, all the brackets are tight. The dust shield is not rubbing. I got the rotors turned when I installed the pads, I bedded the pads according to the instructions. The noise is so frggin loud and sounds like s***, the car sounds like I'm grinding metal on metal.

Any ideas?

I have this problem too -- only on my driver side .. i get the noise when I back up, make left turns, hit a bump, and also start to apply brake pressure.

Yeah, all pins and sliders are lubed. The only other thing I can think of is that the rotor isn't properly seated due to rust. I'm going to try and pull it apart again tonight and try cleaning it off.

take a buffing tool and buff the inside of the rotor where it meets the hub, then buff the hub..

Pulled it apart last night, wire brushed the hub and rotor. Relubed the slides, sanded the pads and rotor because of a grind mark from something on the pad. Still makes the noise.

I also noticed that my dust boots for the piston was torn. I had left the stock anti rattle shims off because they did not sit right after being pryed off and installed on the hawks. Because of this the nubs that stick out of the back of tha pads have more clearance and tear the boot.

man, that is why i didn't get AF brakes, i was afriad this would happen
and i would say take it to the dealer and have the rotors worked on, but i am not sure
if they would wanna work on it after you exhanced the pads....
All i could tell you it has something to do with the rotors more than with the pads.
but excatly what....beats me

Ya..might have to machine your rotors for the pads. Also check if all your pistons are working, and make sure they are seated inside the caliper and not sticking out. Sometimes pistons get stuck in the clamped position and does not reseat properly.

Good to hear that you already fixed the problem... The first that it happened to me was also a bent rattle clips that my mechanic told me to replace... Well, got it fixed with problem at all.. Have a nice day...
