Storing My Miata

I'll drive to Ohio, pick up your car, and give it a loving home until you return.

Deal?

I can't guarantee low mileage when you return. Sometimes things just happen. Like driving 10,000 miles in a month.

Seriously though, do you have a garage? Otherwise I would just buy a good car cover, and then cover that with a tarp if you have room. This will give you the most protection. Do the standard, disconnect the battery (or better yet give a buddy the keys and have them drive it around the block once a week, or once every two weeks.) and depending on how long it will sit maybe put some gas stabilizer in it.

every winter before storing i swap in fresh oil, add stabilizer to the gas (full tank), disconnect and remove the battery (trickle charger indoors). Give the car a good clean inside and out, throw a few moth balls inside the car and a container of silica sand near the middle of the car. Cover it with the good car cover( tied down so it does not flap or move at all) and lock the doors.

I've been told for years that unless you are going to drive it, do not just start and let it run for a few mins and turn it off your exhaust will rust from all the water that will build up plus its not good for the motor.
