I'm so annoyed. The nuts to the spoiler went missing into the tailgate lower trim (I only ever recovered one). I watched videos and looked at diagrams, but I still ended up breaking the trim. I am sure it depends on the vehicle (mines a 2016.5) but the lower trim has some kind of clip mechanism near the top inside corner of the "taillight service hole cover". I don't know what that's supposed to look like because it's broken and all I can find now is a little clip (the mutilated bits of plastic are gone). If anyone knows what that's supposed to look like or knows where I can get a cheap replacement lower trim, please let me know.

For anyone else that accidentally does this, it looks like the "clip" part of the moulding goes through the hole in the taillift metal. The base of this clip has little fins that butt up against the face of the metal. Below that is a hollow cube shape with an opening on the top. The new plan is to carefully drill a hole between these fins and put a screw through the plastic and metal and secure it with a wing nut. I'll let you know how it goes.
