Stock unflashed vs flashed ecu impressions

definetly a mod for me haha...lets not forget we have 9.1:1 compression with a t-25..
detonation shouldnt be something to worry about with these two IMO.

Hmmmm....Interesting...To Flash or not to Flash...That is the question??
I know that we don't have a really high compression motor but its not the lowest boost friendly compression ratio either.

there are alot of cars runnin 9.1.
i would prefer this comp as well...heck linux did his engine and did the same...makes it nice and torquey...haha

these are just my thoughts man.

1. How do we get this flash?
2. Is it a dealer done flash or an aftermarket?
3. Does it void the Mazda warranty?
4. What is the major concern with detonation? (i dont really understand engine internals ... so explain for the noob (smash) )

mazda changed the timing ever so slightly. it's really not advanced as much as most poeple seem to think. atleast not enough to worry about turning up the boost.

head down to the dealer...they plug into your obd II harness and load the program. does not void warranty, that shouldnt be an issue whatsoever. its provided by mazda.
as for the detonation..lol i dont see what the problem is but some people think that 9.1:1 compression(which our cars have) is too high for boosting..Detonation is caused by low gasoline octane ratings, high combustion temperatures, too-lean mixtures(too much air)...personally with the size turbo we have i dont worry about it....

Well I would "LIKE" to boost 14-15 PSI,which I "KNOW" is possible on an un-flashed ecu running on 93.Now the question is will it detonate on the Flashed unit at the PSI?

i dont regret it...been loving it since..with the increase timing and 15psi..plugs show its running stioch...not black like before or white and dry meaning lean.
but tannish looking and a little white meaning runnin perfect for me.
 
And you are running at 15PSI with what octane regularly?I am talking about full duty on the street.I have 93 and 94 regularly available around here.Its a must to run at least the 93...Period

What I am really looking for is that extra "UMPH" to get me into the thirteens.I am only .07 off of my goal.I am just wondering if this would give me enough ass to cross through the traps at just a little quicker pace?

It will definately do that. And discreet does use 93 octane he quit using the race gas. I was running 14 and got no detonation etc.....and i'm running 93 right now, and there is no difference.

I don't know the name of the device, but i was talking to discreet about this earlier, but its an engine stethescope type device, that cuts out the outside noise, so you can hear sounds inside the engine. And my friend thats a good ass mechanic listened to my motor, and said its definately running strong, with no problems what so ever, and that there is no possible way i have had any detonation, knock, ping, or anything close. I'm checking my plugs before i hit the track this weekend. Prolly gonna run 16......

sorry to bring back the dead.

I used to get the "kick back" at 4000 rpm. Then i got the piggy back chip. Does that mean my car was not flashed. Its an 03.5. If not flashed should i still get it flashed after i got the piggy back and will the dealer still flash it after i got the piggy back.
 
u can check if your car was flashed or not by going to your dealership and telling them to bring up your VIN.
