Stock Turbo 22psi!!!

whats a CDFP and whats the big deal with the fuel pump? s*** sounds like a turbo replacement from all the excitement. Forgive my ignorance the thread was a lil long

I wanna upgrade the turbo bad but I want to hit 11.9 first on the stock turbo. I hate how fast the stocker spools right now with the bc set at 20psi. Boost comes on TOO HARD, if you can believe that. I cant even punch it in 3rd gear without it shooting to redline and destroying the tires. I just has some 235s put on today. Hopefully that will help.

cdfp = cam driven fuel pump. the direct injection cars have 1 pump in tank which gets fuel to the motor, where then it is pressurized up to about 1900psi before entering the motor.

with the big modded, higher hp guys, the stock cdfp can't pressurize fuel quick enough at such great volume, to keep up with the fuel demanded for all of the extra, better airflow. the CDFP's are hard to come by with such a demand. thats a quick summary, i gotta go write a paper for my english course about these fuel systems :)
 
well hopefully ill be competing in the next month too. i should have my front mount and cdfp then its dyno and tune time. 2008 true red ms3
 
Im guessing the two fixed the problem. All I know is my car is off the hook right now. im stoked. Full corksport tbe goes on tuesday. Off to the dyno on racegas and high boost. (blowup)

wil you do a base run at 93 and at 18, i just ordered my cork tbe and really was interested the effects i wont get to dyno till spring by then we'll be tuning on more parts. have fun ill be watching, its not my car and im stoked
 
i'm researching the MS3 more than my protege turbo build for my future purchase this summer... seems like people are starting to figure these things out(alright)

yes sir. I wish we could just call up the guys that programmed and calibrated the ECU's. wouldn't that make this soooo much easier???

You're starting to get to that traction limit that all FWD vehicles hit when they're putting down huge power numbers. Have you done any work on the suspension side of things yet?
 
LOL, Ive had 3 fwds with over 300-400whp Im used to the tire spin but this car is just to short geared to be making the kind of power I want. I think I will just do a small turbo upgrade to elimate some of the spool and make the same power at 18-20psi as Im making now at 24psi. Im thinking maybe even just a wheel upgrade. Drivability will be alot better. I hate driving at 1/4 throttle or 100% throttle. There really is no in between when you have a small turbo running higher boost levels wiht a boost controller. its just the way it is.
 
Just get the cobb AP out already so we can get this MFing thing tuned already!

Better turbo + Bigger FP + Cobb AP = 375hp or +. Than you send Driver, Loosh and Mrlil over to Utah to have Cobb make maps for their setups.. Done deal. 400+ hp baby!
