Whats the max turbo psi one would safely run through the stock tmic? Would a custom cobb tuned ms3 running around 18 psi be too ok for the stock tmic? Need expert advise please. Thank you.

I'm running 20 psi with no problems, are concerned about heat soak or blowing out a seal? stock plastic bpv will give out way before the IC. My BAT at 60* were hovering in the 90-110 region under boost

Wow 20 psi? you meaning spiking or holding..thats alot of boost lol. I mean I know in perfect world a larger intercooler would be better..but as long as my car runs safe then im good. I dont think I should be worried about blowing anything at 18 psi.. in know alot of people are running that boost and alittle more and doing fine..But I just wanna make sure Ill be good to go with my current mods.

No spike, hold 20 psi taper to 19 by redline...I am on the east coast and have 93 octane. Boost isnt as much of a concern as proper afr and kr. That is with a protune however.

cool cool :) yeah my plan is to take the car to surgeline tuning real soon and have Tim Baily tune it. Im thinking a nice conservative 18 psi tune with my current mods should be nice power and drivabilty...regardless long as I know ill be fine with the stock tmic before custom tune..then im happy, just dont wanna blow the engine cause of too much hot air going into the engine cause the tmic is not up to par.

I had the stock IC on my car, with the stage 2+. I lost 21hp between the 2nd and 3rd run, because of the heat soak. So the intercooler is more about how substaining HP and keeping temps down. If you want to do any more upgrades i would invest in one.

hmmm weird lol.......thanks guys :) I dont plan on running anymore mods. plus Ill evade most heatsoak when im driving too. Alot of people dyno the ms3 like most cars-hood open...but its been proven that the ms3 actrully does better with the hood closed..thats a whole other subject though. dammit...making me feel guilty to spend more money on intercooler (enguard)

any other imput from the crowd? Stock tmic good enough for a custom stage 2 tune around 18 psi? Thank you. Just want the most advise I can get. Thanks everyone..you learn so much from others in this community :)

az car here....95-115 degrees out side
ap,tbe and cia
v103 stage 2 stock tmic
runs way faster for 1 or 2 gears on freeway till boost intake temp is way hot and pulls all timing advance...then feels slower than stock

i say no till you want to afford fmic and/or meth...
its sooooo hot here i always mix 110 octane to produce 92-93 octane or i'll knock a hole in a piston.
i am guna order soon from PG/summitracing....maybe tonight

Damn. i have the ETS TMIC and when its 85-90* my BATS run around 100-110 under boost. WOW glad i got the upgarded TMIC

HMMMMMMMMMM...well I guess its money issue with me...Surgeline said they can still make my car pull very hard and safe with say a 15 psi map example with the stock tmic..you might say when s*** our cars stock run 15 psi..but boost isnt the full answer for power..good tuning along with good mods with the same boost can make decent mount of power... I know Lincoin's ms3 had cai, cobb dp,turbo inlet, with stock tmic and ran 281 whp and 295 tq.....so im hoping I can run in the 270-280 hp whp range...Also washington doesnt get as hot as places like arizona..85 is nice hot sunny day here..typical weather is upper 70's...BUT...ofcourse a after market intercooler would suit me better!..its just do i need to spend the 600+ dollars..not for the power..honestly 278-280 at the wheels on this fwd car is freakin plenty..but my intake temps go down..cooler air is alwas nicer for the engine..and I can tune for a lower psi to get the same power..meaning with my stock tmic..ill need 18 psi to say get 300 whp as a example..but with fmic ican take it down to 16 psi and get the same results while providing more protection for my engine......guess I have some decisions to make...man I hate the mod bug sometimes(smash)
