I'm looking for pricing on the stock exhaust pipe that runs from the front cat to the rear axle. Its the weekend and of course all the dealerships are closed. Just trying to figure out how much this damn thing is gonna cost me. The guy at the local muffler place that I always goto told me it would cost me 200-250 for him to make a custom pipe/flanges to fit it and it would be cheaper for me to buy the part straight from Mazda and have him put it on.

Is this :bs: ?

Or can I get it cheaper online somewhere? (so far I cant find it online)

$250???? that sounds like too much unless maybe if it's stainless steel. when i got my custom exhaust done, for a 3" aluminzed steel catback (excluding the cost of the muffler), i was quoted $225. might wanna shop around....

If you're good at or know someone who is good at welding and is willing to help you, you could custom-fab you a turbo-back exhaust. Use a stock exhaust as a template, buy some pipe off ebay along with some mandrel bends (couple of 45*'s and maybe a 90*) and weld.

Its rusted to the point that its falling apart. Whoever put it on there must of ripped it off some older car and put it on there.

I'm gonna go hit the dealership and some other muffler places in the area to check on pricing for that long-pipe now.....

Hey,

I've got a complete front to back exhaust system off a 2002 and another off a 2003 protege I'd be willing to part with....

Any offers???

Let me know

Tom

Wooot!

Found an honest place thats just going to cut the old long pipe off and weld some flanges on it for me. Theyre only charging me thier $60 hourly rate and said it shouldnt take more than an hour, hour and a half tops.

Why do I always have to weed through the annoying liar and asshole mechanics to find a nice honest one every time?

why don't you bring your car to the dealer first and have them replace the stock exhaust under warranty before doing anything else?

uhh...because its definatly NOT going to be covered if they decide to LOOK at it before they work on it. They might just notice that the ONLY stock pieces of my exhaust are the muffler itself and the downpipe. I was looking at it with my mechanic earlier today and we figured out that the even the cat itself was aftermarket!
