Stock Dumlop tires----I need help!

I'm running the Kumho Ecsta 712 as well. A lot better than stock!!!

Man, I love them- waaaay stickier than stock, not noisy (at least compared to my snow tires) And unlike some yokohama's I have had on other cars, they don't seem to follow cracks on the highway at all. And wet traction is great too! I would say for the money and performance, definitely a best buy- Depending on the treadwear, I will probably get them again.

Yeah, sounds like you drive a little hard - I still have the stockers and I've gotten 29700 on them. Still have enough tread for driving, but I have noticed that they don't have quite the same grip they used to. I just rotated them, so I'm going to try to wait another few thousand miles.

How do you like the Kumho Ecsta 712's??? They will likely be my next tire - though I am also considering the all season version "ASX".

Definitely! I noticed a big difference in noise level when I took off my snow tires and put on the Kumhos. The edges (shoulders) of my Dunlops wore severly but there was little wear in the center. I feel my Kumhos are wearing faster, but they're wearing evenly. The shoulder wear on the Dunlops were from hard cornering. The Kumhos don't seem to suffer as bad from the cornering.

There have been many threads about crappy the Dunflops are. Mine flat-spotted at 3000 miles, a result of a short skid. Was like I took the tread down to the steel belts! I actually got a tire warranty when I bought my P5. It was not through Mazda, and would be prorated. After the poor traction in rain, and the easily flat spotted front tires, I did not want to deal with those junk tires again. I replaced them with Yokohamas, and have never had any problems.

I agree that one side having an allignment problem will cause damage on the other. My old VW had nailed a curb on the right side. The left side was fine. I never got the bent suspension repaired. But I did have to replace both front tires every year or so. (stock VW tires were like $75 installed, cheap).

You may also want to get the allignment done at another location. Find another good shop, and take it in. May be worth it to know it is ok.

That's where I got mine, but if shinzen got his for $80 mounted and balanced. That's an even better deal. In the past, I've been able to get shops to match tireracks prices.

I ordered mine from Tires.com. Got them in 2 days. Local Mazda dealer installed for $75. Very good customer service. I have heard good thinks about Tirerack, so I would just go with the best price, IMO

Yeah, discount tire is the same as tires.com, but no shipping charges. I decided on them because with the shipping and paying another $10/tire for mount and balance- I would rather just get them locally. Just call around your area for quotes, usually they will match each other.

I ate through my stock dunlops pretty quick. Sure i drive like an ass...but none the less...i tore em up. Never had problems with them though. After the stock set i got 4 Dunlop FM901. Those are some good tires. They were cheaper than the stock tires too. Im almost done with those and its time for some rims.
