Stock BOV detail - what is this? (pics inside)

I removed the stock BOV yesterday and I noticed this extra passage which goes all the way up to the top of the BOV. I tried sucking and blowing through it but is seems sealed, at least as long as the BOV is shut. I was not able to test the same with the BOV pushed open. The paperclip I sticked in there would not move either when I pushed the BOV open so it appears it might be going back to the sealed portion of the vac side.

Any idea what this passage is good for? Maybe it is to help keeping the BOV shut at high boost? The spring tension is pretty high... wouldn't make you think it's necessary.

it may be there to allow the piston inside to move more freely..granted i know almost nothing about this BPV. nor have i taken mine off to look at it either.

edit: nvmd i don't think thats it at all..hmm

Can not understand why... the stock part seems to have a very high resistance. Who said that the stocker is supposed to leak originally? What would be the reason behind this?

I have the SRI on my car and just listening to it, it sounds like it leaks boost, any other quality made BPV will hold boost better than the stock BPV, its cheap plastic, it cannot hold all that BOOST very well!
