Still racing?

110,000 miles and still going strong on the stock motor, but using an AWR oil pan.

ive done two track events so far this year at buttonwillow. supposedly another one in november. i dont get full on competitive with it, I go out and have fun

Ive been to Texas World Speedway in College Station in both my old Cobra and my current Mustang, but not my MSP yet. With some more mods it would be a fun car on the track.

Nice pic. Does the AWR oil pan help out that much for the turns in the track or is it just just for more oil capacity. Also, will it change the class in SCCA that your in. I'm running in the STX class right now.

The oil pan does have baffling, but the capacity is even more important to me. A lot of the oil is up in the heads at high rpms so with less capacity there is less to be pumped through the engine and easier to get starvation. More oil also helps prevent overheating the oil and degrading it.

I'm not an expert on autocross rules anymore, but the wording I found in the rulebook for oil pans on cars in ST classes doesn't make it sound like the pan would be legal. Here it is: "Internal baffl ing of oil pans may be added or modifi ed. Addition or modification of windage trays, crankshaft scrapers, and oil pump
pickups is not allowed."

I race mine with SM76 @ Mid-Ohio and I am at 102,000 with the same motor. I will be adding the oil pan, as I will be doing more events next season. What we both do is run 5w-30 and I change my oil after each weekend of running the car.

Seems to be working, no engine failure for both of us.

You would move to SMF or SM with the oil pan

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would see who is still racing thier MSP's out there.

As for me. After taking a 3 year break from Autox'ing i'm going to be hitting it hard again. The rest of this year and all of next season is going to be development time. hopefully the 2012 season i can pull a top 5 in STX if the end of the world doesn't come.

it really is too bad that the world will be ending. you better hit it hard early in the season.

I'm pretty sure you would be moved to SMF, because of the mod to the engine. Good question.

I have been wanting to do this for forever. I just don't want to zoom zoom boom seeing as this is my daily driver. I am gonna get the AWR, and do a little more tuning before I will brave the tracks. However, I am only about an hour from the California Speedway...

I am the current points leader in STM class for my local auto-x region. I am ahead enough points that I should take home the overall championship as long as I do not miss any events.
