'02 Red P5...BUT AS OF 1/31/08 an '08 Silver SPEED3!!!
This is a thread to help our aftermarket folks gague interest for a stiffer 3rd motor mount (the one that was replaced on the Mazdaspeed). Spool Turbo had expressed a mild interest in fabbing one up, let's get all the members here who would be interested in purchasing to weigh in.

Vendors, if you've got anything in the works, or have a desire to get something started, let's see you post here as well!!!

Thanks Everyone! :D

EDIT: I bumped this to keep it in the ring. Today I emailed RR-racing to see if their 2.5L poly inserts would fit the 2.0L mounts. It is difficult to tell from the pics.
KArtboy, we would also love to hear from you. I am a driver who "chauffers" someone around every day, and so the full urethane mounts do not work for me, I need something that limits drivetrain whiplash without shaking fillings. The vibe with just a front mount is not that bad during driving, but I noticed it in DC metro traffic when I stuck it in temporarily.

Any vendors? Bueller?

id be interested in just some inserts. i think kartboy might be working on this.

As long as it's a mixed urethane/rubber mount to make it more streetable, that'll be great

uuuummm! there is not such thing as a MSP mount. All Proteges have the same mount.:)

Nope the MSP has a diffrent mount. Just a sec and I'll show some proof, gotta find it first.

BTW: I would be interested in the #3 mount, also if anyone aside from AWR was looking into producing the front and rear mounts I would be interested in those also.

Edit: TheMan installed the Mazdaspeed #3 mount.

would this make much of a difference on top of the other 2 awr motor mounts?
I cant say, I havent installed the other two. But installing JUST the third mount should eliminate or at least greatly reduce the wheel/engine hop WITHOUT the vibration of the AWR front and rear.

Ya I would want one.

How hard are they to put in?
The third one is easy to install. The hard one on the protege motor is the rear engine mount.

bump

I'm going to call :bs: on this one. Sorry for the delay.

I have the "Mazdaspeed" mount. Different part number, looks identical. I think I just wasted a good chunk of change.

i felt the MSP mount at a meet, and they feel the same. I they are still rubbery and hollow. i think im gonna fill mine.

I'm very interested. My stock one is already showing signs of stress with splits on each side.

Think I can get it replaced under warranty? Or is that considered "wear and tear"?

Plus I can't even get a call back from my local mazdaspeed dealer Earnhardt.

And yes $140 for the #3 mount is pricey!

the tears may just be the rubber that hangs out of the mount. and the splits are the holes.

I'd be interested if there ever was such a mount fabricated for #3.

Well this is what I got back from my dealer...

Unfortunately, I don't have any good news for you. The part you are inquiring about is on National back-order with Mazda with no estimate of release date.

I also, did a national locate on this part and no other dealer seems to have one in stock, either. This part retails (when available) for $142.20.

Thank you for your inquiry, and please call us if we can assist you with anything else.

:(

I'm intersted as hell. I've emailed kartboy about it a bunch...and they seem like they want to do it, but never get around to it.
:(

they never seemed to have interest at all (aka not replying to emails) back in the days before I experimented with the motor mount which the experiment WAS a success

which mount is the one you're refering to as the 3rd mount? I need to do something about mine. My engine feels like its floppin all over the place lately. I think it's due to the bad clutch chatter I've been having, that I still can't get mazda to fix!!. Wonder if I could atleast get the bushings replaced under waranty.
