I'm looking to get an exhaust that is as close to a wrx sti sound as I can get and was wondering which one that would be. I heard that the perrin sounds somewhat like it. Is the perrin exhaust really that loud and obnoxious if i was to drive it easy and shift early would i be fine and not annoyed and get pulled over all the time lol.

That sound doesn't come from an exhaust it comes from having a non equal length turbo manifold. Subaru have 2 really long runners and 2 really short ones

I know that the subarus get their sound from their boxer engine but i wanna find an exhaust that sounds similar, I thought of getting a perrin and weilding in a cat and possibly a resonator but don't know how much that would affect the sound.

it has nothing to do with their boxer engine. Have you ever heard a sti with a equal length turbo mani? sounds just like any other car.

could you put a non equal length turbo manifold on the msp and make it sound similar to the subarus? and sorry my bad for not knowing that lol

this is my setup.. 3" POPE DP custom 3" tbe.. all i have on the exhaust is a ceramic HF Cat, 12" bottle style resonator, and a vibrant streetpower muffler

Msp that sounds nice, im starting to lean towards a custom exhaust with a possibly cat welded in and a nice muffler, how much did all that come out to? and where do you think I could get some custom headers built? Just any shop local to me? Its alright if the engine bay doesn't look perfect, live up in Maine so I can't keep it clean anyway lol

a good quality custom turbo manifold will proabably run you around 1k as far as the exhaust goes it depends on what it's made out of and who does the work

After owning 3 subarus, I can tell you that (as posted above) the sound is from the unequal length manifold. Sounds wicked once opened up if the stock turbo manifold is retained, or an unequal length header is fitted. EL manifolds/headers don't sound at all similar. A common n/a upgrade is to throw on the UEL's for the sound, since they are factory fitted with equal length manifolds.

I always thought it was the boxer engine style, so do you guys think I could get a custom uel exhaust manifold made and get an exhaust and get a Subaru sound from my msp? I'd love to get that sound if I could! And would I need anything else or just the uel exhaust manifold.

If they weren't so expensive lol, I wish I could get one but i can't I just wanna have a nice sounding Mazda with some rumble, so I don't need the boxer engine to have the rumble?

I have full vibrant exhaust with the res deleted, and sounds almost identical to my buddies 08 sti hatch and hes runnin invidia tbe.

I'm deciding between the perrin and vibrant exhaust, heard great things about both, but that the Perrin is crazy loud, how loud is your vibrant will?

I dont think you can get the Perrin exhaust anymore, its been years since Perrin stopped producing MSP stuff. Still lovin my ApexR1/Greddy sp2 combo after all these years.
