Steering wheel remotes for a 2002 P5?

I've got a carpc installed in my 2002 P5 and I'm looking to add a steering wheel remote control on. What i'm wondering is if any of the models of proteges have steering wheel remote controls that I could buy to make it look stock? I'm guessing the newer mazda 3's have them, but I'm not sure if it'd be something that I could install into a 02 P5.

Anyone able to help?

you can get the JDM/EDM radio control unit... but installing that will mean losing cruise control because that's where it goes... it looks pretty much like your cruise control buttons except its for the radio.... yes it's stock!

Iiiinteresting........ any links or pics or anything you can point me to? I haven't really gotten into the car modding scene much so I don't know where to find JDM parts.

Why not just add it on the left upside down & have both? Plus & minus signs look the same either way? It may require a little customization but....

For the Win!!

...a couple years ago, I remember reading about an install in a car audio mad- they sanded down the face of the buttons, painted them white, masked off the letters, and then sprayed them black with a bunch of clear coat. I'm sure if you don't feel capable of doing this, any paint shop could do it for you. as a note, you might want to get both controls redone so that they look the same

Man I'm diggin on that 220mph speedo in your car. Does it really go that fast?

LOL, I know, it's kph. Still caught me off guard looking @ the pic.

the black gauge faces were standard for the non-sportive models down here.. imho: black+bezel+rings > white+anything

thread necromancy!!!!
I've thought about looking more into doing this a few times. I wouldn't be afraid to dive deeper into something like this....i would need to find another switch and see what the steering wheel looks like with the bag and cover removed..(to see how the switch is mounted and the wires are routed)
I think i'll head out to the local pick-a-part this weekend and see what they have along the lines of donor cars...if it looks to be doable, i may take a stab at it and post a write-up if i pull it off cleanly ;)

anyone have some hidden knowledge before i start in on my research?
