steering wheel angle a problem for anyone else?

:
2011 CX-9 GT FWD
Just picked up my '11 GT FWD today... traded my 08 Pathfinder... shopped like crazy, wanting to get out of the 'truck' suspension/handling and electronic anomalies of the Nissan... happy with my choice, but... a question for you all that own this vehicle; Does the steering wheel angle/positioning bother anyone else?

I'm an ergonomics nut, drummer by trade, and also spend many hours in front of computers and mixing consoles... things have to be in a 'natural' place (height/angle/placement) to allow long hours and comfort while there.. I'm having a bit of a problem with the rake of the wheel, with the top angling down towards the windshield. It creates such a long reach at the top, forcing more of a lower wheel hand position to feel relaxed.. (I thought the Nissan was comfortable in this regard, and I also own a '07 Corvette ZO6 that fits me like a glove).

It obviously wasn't a deal breaker, but it does have me wondering if there's an aftermarket wheel somewhere that might remedy the issue... I also wouldn't mind the wheel being a bit BIGGER... seems like all the manufacturers lately are putting small 'car like' steering wheels in these cross overs to more simulate a car... fine, but they're also making these vehicles WIDER to, I don't know, maybe accommodate bigger folks? I drove a Ford Explorer and the arm rest on the door was literally 5 inches away from my body! (not to mention the torque steer!). The CX-9's arm rest is a bit closer (but still far for my complete taste)

So, back to the question... anyone else feel this is an issue, and more importantly, does anyone know of an aftermarket steering wheel that might address the points above (bigger, angle adjustment, and maybe not so slippery)?

otherwise, kick ass car/truck/wagon, whatever you want to call it...

Thanks in advance for any input.
Dave

Not sure what the issue is. The CX-9 steering wheel is adjustable via telescopic and up/down in combination with the position of your seat forward or back or up or down so you should be able to achieve the position you want?

Not really... not yet anyway, still messing with it all (seat/wheel adjustments)... Your description is absolutely correct; "telescopic and up/down "... vs TILT.. If it actually tilted, so the top of the wheel wasn't so far away, the 'issue' would be solved, taking stress off the shoulders and neck from reaching too far.

I'm sure I'll get used to it, and find a relatively comfortable position (or drive more in an 8/4 o'clock position on wheel), but if there WAS an aftermarket wheel that was also a bit bigger, fatter, and less slippery (and some kind of a hub to lessen the rake) I'd be all over it... just sayin...

So far I've only seen racing wheels that have no provision for air bag or controls, obviously not the ticket.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and have not issue with reach or leg room. It does take some time to find a good position but I think there is plenty of adjustment via the seat and wheel controls.

5'8"....so yes, arm length is a bit different I would think... anyway, getting used to it... and I agree, lots of adjustment possible... I personally just wish the wheel would tilt... :-)
