Just picked up my '11 GT FWD today... traded my 08 Pathfinder... shopped like crazy, wanting to get out of the 'truck' suspension/handling and electronic anomalies of the Nissan... happy with my choice, but... a question for you all that own this vehicle; Does the steering wheel angle/positioning bother anyone else?
I'm an ergonomics nut, drummer by trade, and also spend many hours in front of computers and mixing consoles... things have to be in a 'natural' place (height/angle/placement) to allow long hours and comfort while there.. I'm having a bit of a problem with the rake of the wheel, with the top angling down towards the windshield. It creates such a long reach at the top, forcing more of a lower wheel hand position to feel relaxed.. (I thought the Nissan was comfortable in this regard, and I also own a '07 Corvette ZO6 that fits me like a glove).
It obviously wasn't a deal breaker, but it does have me wondering if there's an aftermarket wheel somewhere that might remedy the issue... I also wouldn't mind the wheel being a bit BIGGER... seems like all the manufacturers lately are putting small 'car like' steering wheels in these cross overs to more simulate a car... fine, but they're also making these vehicles WIDER to, I don't know, maybe accommodate bigger folks? I drove a Ford Explorer and the arm rest on the door was literally 5 inches away from my body! (not to mention the torque steer!). The CX-9's arm rest is a bit closer (but still far for my complete taste)
So, back to the question... anyone else feel this is an issue, and more importantly, does anyone know of an aftermarket steering wheel that might address the points above (bigger, angle adjustment, and maybe not so slippery)?
otherwise, kick ass car/truck/wagon, whatever you want to call it...
Thanks in advance for any input.
Dave
