Where can I get the oem steering wheel and shift knob both are in pretty bad shape and steering wheel kinda peels off sometimes leaves nasty feeling in my hand. Does mazda have them or am I sol? I wana stick with the oem ones but I'm not sure if the p5s or reg proteges use the same ones or not

the MP3 steering wheel is special for the MP3 model. however, it is interchangable with the 1999-2001 Nardi miata steering wheel. the protege5 and later model protege sedan steering wheels look similar, but are inferior in quality to the nardi wheels.

look for a 99-00 miata steering wheel for a replacement. (it wont have the two-tone color, but will be better quality)

Just get a p5 wheel and make sure u get one with a back cover for w/o cruise control. Or pay $250 for a nardi miata wheel

So no way to get the original steering wheel? I mean if they make them for the miata still shouldn't they still make them for the mp3? Is there a way to refurbish it? As far as the shift knob I'm considering the mazdaspeed one

Sorry Nik, but I have to disagree. I hated the stock Nardi MP3 steering wheel, the leather was super bad and turned a smooth almost slippery texture. It was very hard to keep a good grip on it after a while. P5 steering wheel all the way, just make sure to get a non-cruise lower cover as most P5's came with cruise and no MP3s did.

You COULD get an OEM steering wheel from Mazda, but if I recall correctly it's around $400.

i wont argue with you, as i still have my stock POS 4-spoke ES wheel. i always heard good things about the miata nardi wheel, though. i guess i assumed the MP3 nardi wheel was the same.

i agree with krazie i had a leather wheel on another car and after a while it got slippery

i considered the nardi one but i didnt feel the need to spend more money then i needed for a steering wheel when the regular P5 wheel looks the same. So thats what i got and i like the look and grip i get on it, again thats just me

but if you do want to get one and since you dont need the cruise control heres a link to IukekiniProtege hes selling one
