Brake lines...
Brake lines do not prevent brake fade, nor do they really improve braking distances. Fade is caused by the heat on the brake pads and the pads going soft from the heat. And how quickly you stop ultimately relies on the tires you have, but brake pad material can help with this some as well.
All steel braided lines do is stop any swelling that can occur when you mash on the brakes. Rubber lines can expand, steel braided lines tend not to. It allows more of the pressure from the brake pedal to go to the caliper, instead of using some of that pressure to expand the line.
It will feel a little different when you press on the pedal.
